Joe MUST GO!
I don't think history is going to look favorably upon Mr. Lieberman. It is hard to believe he has been driven by anything more than his over-sized ego. I can respect people who have opposed this, and people who support it - but someone who has manipulated the process strictly for his own gain?

A McCain-Lieberman ticket? | Salon News
A McCain-Lieberman ticket? Salon News:
This could be a strong pair in the election.
"But in a presidential year filled with firsts (African-American nominee,
serious woman candidate, former POW to be his party's standard-bearer),
Lieberman retains the intriguing potential to become the first Jewish,
party-crossing, second-time-around vice-presidential nominee in American
history."
This could be a strong pair in the election.

MotherJones Blog: Lieberman Can't Find One Democratic Candidate To Endorse, Goes With McCain
MotherJones Blog: Lieberman Can't Find One Democratic Candidate To Endorse, Goes With McCain:
Maybe all of the above.
"What on earth is up with Joe Lieberman? Maybe it really ticked him off when so
many members of the Democratic establishment endorsed his opponent in the last
Connecticut senate race (even though that opponent was the Democrat). Maybe he
really can't see beyond the war in Iraq. Maybe he's just a Democrat In Name Only
(DINO) at this point. Maybe he's an egomaniac crazy for attention."
Maybe all of the above.
Lieberman to endorse McCain - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth
Lieberman to endorse McCain - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth:
I don't see how this is a move that will help anyone. It makes Lieberman look bad, and is going to increase calls for him to move over to the other side officially. As for McCain, no one on the right is going to trust a Democrat.
"Reader Dennis in Arlington alerted me that our favorite loser is going to be
endorsing McCain. Big surprise. Lieberman lost his mind, and his loyalties, long
ago. All that he's interested in now is starting as many wars in the Middle East
as possible."

Firedoglake - Firedoglake weblog » Hillary Clinton’s Iran Vote
Firedoglake - Firedoglake weblog » Hillary Clinton’s Iran Vote:
I agree with every statement here, but the last. Hilary made the right choice. Any other choice would be to back down to Iran, allow them to grow stronger and threaten our troops and our allies.
"Wednesday’s vote on the Lieberman - Kyl resolution, condemning Iran and
allowing the designation of its Revolutionary Guards as a “terrorist” entity,
was a litmus test for candidates seeking the Presidency. The vote separated the
wise from the foolish, and Senator Clinton voted — again — for foolish. "

A Tiny Revolution: Threatening Lieberman-Kyl Amendment On Iran
A Tiny Revolution: Threatening Lieberman-Kyl Amendment On Iran:
Where is the fire. There are voices on the left that are up in arms about this. What it says is that America will act to defend itself, its interests and allies in Iraq. That shouldn't even need to be stated.
"(3) that it should be the policy of the United States to combat, contain, and
roll back the violent activities and destabilizing influence inside Iraq of the
Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, its foreign facilitators such as
Lebanese Hezbollah, and its indigenous Iraqi proxies; (4) to support the prudent
and calibrated use of all instruments of United States national power in Iraq,
including diplomatic, economic, intelligence, and military instruments, in
support of the policy described in paragraph (3) with respect to the Government
of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies."

Ned Would Wipe The Floor With Holy Joe Today
Ned Would Wipe The Floor With Holy Joe Today
Is Lieberman's stand on the war in Iraq going to cost him his seat when he comes up for election next time. The democratic base is really getting angry about this subject, and he is not in a popular position. He is not a Democrat, and though he could go back to the party at the next election, he may face better odds remaining independent. The question is if Republicans are going to choose to vote for him, some of them are upset about the war as well. Others might be concerned about other policy stands Lieberman has taken.
Unfortunately for America, Connecticut voters aren’t casting their votes today
in the Lieberman/Lamont race because if they were, Ned Lamont would win and the US Senate would be rid of the pathological, warmongering narcissist Joe
Lieberman (CFL-AIPAC).

Watching Those We Chose: Warner, Lieberman, announce new global warming legislation
Watching Those We Chose: Warner, Lieberman, announce new global warming legislation:
It is early in the process, and it would be premature to judge right now, but it does sound like a strong first step. If I understand things right, good legislating is like good haggling, you start high and you work down. There will be compromise and no doubt handouts to the auto and the utility industry, which will come later. It is just a good thing that it is being discussed.
"Senators Joseph Lieberman and John Warner said their plan would focus on 80 percent of greenhouse gas emissions, to cut these by 70 percent below current levels by 2050, and could be used as a blueprint in the fight against global warming.
“We hope it will be a turning point,” said Lieberman, who sits as an independent Democrat in the Senate, adding that the plan could reverse US foot dragging on tackling the global threat from climate change.
“We have been slow, we are already late, but not too late,” he said."

Lieberman becomes liberal cash cow - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth
Lieberman becomes liberal cash cow - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth:
I think that the targeting of Lieberman is a poor sign of the health of our democracy. There needs to be room in the middle of the political spectrum, I have to say that Lieberman has some courage to attempt to move into the middle. I question how many others are going to be bold enough to take a stand to the extremes.
"This is actually kind of funny. Lieberman is appearing at a fundraiser for
pro-Bush GOP Senator Susan Collins of Maine. As a result, tons of money is
pouring into Collins' opponent, Tom Allen. Hopefully Lieberman will attach
himself to more GOP members this election cycle - he's a walking ATM for our
side."

Crooks and Liars » Wesley Clark responds to Lieberman's "bomb Iran" rhetoric
Crooks and Liars » Wesley Clark responds to Lieberman's "bomb Iran" rhetoric:
There have been a number of comments on Lieberman's talk of bombing Iran. I think this is a strong comment from a good source. Talk of war with Iran should not be done lightly.
"Only someone who never wore the uniform or thought seriously about national
security would make threats at this point. What our soldiers need is responsible
strategy, not a further escalation of tensions in the region. Senator Lieberman
must act more responsibly and tone down his threat machine…"

Lieberman calls for US to attack Iran - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth
Lieberman calls for US to attack Iran - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth:
I think this is scary because if a war with Iran is ever going to be sold to the American people, the White House knows that they can't have Bush or Cheney sell it. In fact there are few on the republican side that can sell it without sounding like a war monger, and those few are likely unwilling. On the other hand no one on the Democratic side of the isle is going to support a war with Iran. The only person the leaves is a person standing in the political gap, Joe Lieberman. His support of the Iraq war gets him backing from right and his history with the Democratic party gives him some backing from the left.
"All you moderate Republicans, you still think Lieberman is such a nice
'moderate' guy? He wants to get us into a third war. I'm increasingly wondering
if Lieberman is looking out for Israel's interests rather than America's. And I
say that as someone who has been criticized for being too pro-Israel. And I am
pro-Israel. But I'm pro-America first and foremost."
