Countdown to Israel's destruction has begun, says Ahmadinejad - Israel News, Ynetnews

Countdown to Israel's destruction has begun, says Ahmadinejad - Israel News, Ynetnews:

"Iranian president says Israel's disappearance imminent, 'Zionist regime' will
have to bow down to Palestinians. Iranian FM meets with Hamas, Jihad, leader in
Damascus, urging them to continue struggle against Jewish state "

We can only hope that his people will understand what an attack on Israel would mean to Iran and their security. Israel would respond to any attack from Iran with as much force as it needs to. I am scared by this kind of talk, and I hope that Iranians are scared by it too and they will take actions to remove this crazy man from power.

lgf: Islamic Forum Confused About 12-Year Old Headchopper:

"One of the most depraved stories from the “holy warriors” recently was the
video of a 12-year old boy hacking off the head of a helpless captive, with an
audience shouting “Allahu Akbar!” Clicking the picture below will take you to
Liveleak, where you can watch an edited (non-graphic) version. Even without
showing the actual murder, it’s very disturbing."

I am not saying this is what Islam is about, but this is the enemy we face. An enemy that instead of protecting its children from violence, teaches it to them and uses them. This is a sad video.

lgf: Anti-Globalists and Peace Activists Riot in Germany

lgf: Anti-Globalists and Peace Activists Riot in Germany:

"The clashes, in which protesters threw stones and set cars alight,
occurred after a largely peaceful march through Rostock by tens of thousands of
anti-globalisation protesters. Police used water cannon and tear gas to disperse
the crowds, but also appeared to provoke the protesters by hitting protesters
not directly involved in the violence."

A debate about the merits of the international trade system and the imbalances in it are fair. There are problems with the system, but the more I understand the problems the more I understand that they aren't things that are set there for abusive reasons.

When you talk about the imbalance in agriculture for example. The root of the problem actually lies in the politics of western countries like the US. In these countries it is political death to cut subsidies to farmers. However those subsidies are what makes it so farmers in the developing world cannot compete in our market. If we allowed them to compete they could increase their development. However that would mean cutting the money that goes to farmers in this country and could effect some of them very badly.

There are solutions that can be reached, and there is work that needs to be done. Those who are rioting in the streets are getting nothing done for the world. They are going no where in making the world a better place. Violence is just not an acceptable form of discourse.

"Democrats are sidestepping rules approved their first day in power in
January to clearly identify “earmarks” — lawmakers’ requests for specific
projects and contracts for their states — in documents that accompany spending
bills.Rather than including specific pet projects, grants and contracts in
legislation as it is being written, Democrats are following an order by the
House Appropriations Committee chairman to keep the bills free of such earmarks
until it is too late for critics to effectively challenge them."

I don't want this to sound like I am bashing the Democrats, though I am, I am sure this is a practice that takes place in both parties. Right now the party in power is the Democrats though, and as the party in power they are the ones who should answer for these actions. If this were the Republican party taking these steps to undermine democracy I am sure the democrats would make a stink about it. Washington is a lot like church it seems, full of people who are hypocrites, talk about things they never will do and obsessed with the sin of others.

Hot Air » Blog Archive » Blogging the Qur’an: Sura 1, “The Opening”:

"The Fatiha (Opening) is the first sura (chapter) of the Qur’an and most
common prayer of Islam. If you’re a pious Muslim who prays the five requisite
daily prayers of Islam, you will recite the Fatiha seventeen times in the course
of those prayers. According to an Islamic tradition, the Muslim prophet Muhammad
said that the Fatiha surpassed anything revealed by Allah (“the God” in Arabic,
and the word for God used by Arabic-speaking Christians and Jews, as well as
Muslims) in the Torah, the Gospel, or the rest of the Qur’an. And indeed, it
efficiently and eloquently encapsulates many of the principal themes of the
Qur’an and Islam in general: Allah as the “Lord of the Worlds,” who alone is to
be worshiped and asked for help, the merciful judge of every soul on the Last
Day."

This is just the beginning, the rest of the post that you should read if you can talks about how the passage is understood. I really think that this is an important project, that if we are to live in this world peacefully we need to learn to understand each other.

Rolling Stone : Giuliani: Worse Than Bush:

"He's cashing in on 9/11, working with Karl Rove's henchmen and in cahoots with
a Swift Boat-style attack on Hillary. Will Rudy Giuliani be Bush III? "

This is what I have been saying ever seen I heard the Giuliani was running for the White House. He is a dangerous leader and not a person I trust with power.

Global warming faster than predicted - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth

Global warming faster than predicted - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth:

"Global warming is accelerating three times more quickly than feared, a series
of startling, authoritative studies has revealed.

They have found that
emissions of carbon dioxide have been rising at thrice the rate in the 1990s.
The Arctic ice cap is melting three times as fast - and the seas are rising
twice as rapidly - as had been predicted."

What I don't understand about this issue is why some people insist on inaction. The actions that can be taken to slow global warming are actions that can be better for the country in a number of ways. Finding other sources of energy has a number of benefits besides its effect on global warming. I think this is something that can be debated, but those who are against it should accept the changes that are being advocated at least.

» Eminem Can’t Be Happy About This - Mocksie.com:

"You have to wonder if this is part of a brilliant revenge plot by Michael
Jackson. Eminem has made fun of Michael more than once, and Michael took it
personally enough that he had the video for “Just Lose It” pulled off of BET.
Or maybe I’m giving him more credit than he deserves, and this is nothing
more than an attempt to make enough money to build a spaceship made completely
out of unicorn horns or something."

This does sound like a way that Michael could really get back at Eminem for the statements that the rapper made about the fan of little boys. Can you imagine the fun that Michael could have, using The Slim Shady to plug underwear for K-Mart, or Wal-Mart.

Gabby Babble: What's Britney's Mom Going to Spill on The View?:

"Britney's mom, Lynne Spears, is scheduled to show up on The View during the
'Hot Topics' segment on June 6th. Brit's relationship with her mom has been
reportedly strained ever since Britney felt she was forced to go to rehab. I
wonder what she's going to spill on Wednesday. "

This should be a good show, when I am able to find clips of it online then I will post them here.

"When asked by TMZ, Hayden made a sad face and said, “I feel bad for her (Paris)

and said that Lindsay needs to “face the consequences of her actions.”"

This girl doesn't sound as sweet as she looks.

"And it appears she's not taking too kindly to the Promises rehab facility. “On
the first night she couldn’t stop crying. Since then she’s refused to follow the
rules and keeps having hissy fits about people,” says a source to Backseat
Cuddler. And, Friday was the first day for visitors at Promises, and the only
person who showed up was her bodyguard. Lindsay jumped into his arms."

Rehab isn't supposed to be a place that you like, I can only hope that it is helping her.

Allie Is Wired - The Entertainment Blog: No Reality Show for Posh:

"Back in February, Us Weekly reported that Victoria Beckham was going to star in
her own fashion-based 'real-life' show on NBC. The show was to feature Posh's
own designs and follow the same format as America's Next Top Model, except that
it focused on the clothes. But now TMZ reports that she has backed out of the
deal, telling The Mirror that family comes before fame."

I find this family before fame idea to be shallow coming from Victoria. If there is anything that this family is after I think it is fame. More likely the shows details didn't match her liking.

Kelly Osbourne and Kimberly Stewart – own reality show?:

"Kelly Osbourne and Kimberly Stewart apparently come out with their new reality
show soon, two competitors for the simple life ladies Paris Hilton and Nicole
Richie! They both were spottet in Venice Beach where they handed out food for
homeless people."

This sounds like it could be a fun show to watch. Paris was interesting when she started the show, because her and Nicole were not as well known as they are now. Kelly and Kimberly are in that spot right now, they are known but not over exposed.

Captain's Quarters: Carbon Credits Lead To Increased Greenhouse-Gas Emissions

"The entire system rests on a couple of major assumptions. The first and
most laughable is that the system of carbon trades can be reliable based on spot
audits. Billions of dollars are at stake in this enterprise. Without constant
monitoring and checking, firms will cheat all day long -- especially since the
metering of greenhouse-gas emissions relies on estimates more than precise
measurements."

This is a weakness that really needs to be over come in order to make carbon trading work. There are a number of weaknesses that need to be dealt with. I think it has the potential to be a good system, with a little work.

Crooks and Liars » Bush’s Nominee For Surgeon General Wants To Cure Teh Gay?

Crooks and Liars » Bush’s Nominee For Surgeon General Wants To Cure Teh Gay?:

"Last week, with little fanfare, George W. Bush announced the nomination of
Joseph Holsinger to become the Surgeon General of the United States. Said Bush:
'As America's chief health educator, he will be charged with providing the
best scientific information available on how Americans can make smart choices
that improve their health and reduce their risk of illness and injury.'
And
speaking of choices, Holsinger and his wife:
…founded Hope Springs Community
Church in a warehouse at 1109 Versailles Road. Calhoun called it a socially
diverse congregation with a 'very vital recovery ministry.' It serves the
homeless and those with addictions to drugs, alcohol and sex; and it has a
Spanish-language Hispanic congregation with its own pastor. […]
Hope Springs
also ministers to people who no longer wish to be gay or lesbian, Calhoun said.
'We see that as an issue not of orientation but of lifestyle,' he said. 'We
have people who seek to walk out of that lifestyle.' "

I think you should attempt to cure stupidity first, once that is cured you can think about curing homosexuality.

Captain's Quarters

Captain's Quarters: Palestinians Pine For Israeli Security

"Papers reported that some people in Gaza even want the Israelis to return
to the Strip. Faiz Abbas and Muhammad Awwad, journalists for the Israeli-Arab
weekly Al-Sinara, wrote: 'People in Gaza are hoping that Israel will reenter the
Gaza Strip, wipe out both Hamas and Fatah, and then withdraw again... They also
say that, since the [start of the] massacres, they [have begun to] miss the
Israelis, since Israel is more merciful than [the Palestinian gunmen] who do not
even know why they are fighting and killing one another. It's like organized
crime, [they said]. Once, we resisted Israel together, but now we call for the
return of the Israeli army to Gaza.' [20] "

What I think is missed in the debate about Hamas, is this is not just an issue of Israel and its security. Talking about the Palestinians, they themselves deserve better government than this. They deserve a government invested in their interests and not the parties personal goals.

"The wife of the man who flew across the world with a deadly strain of TB
says she will never forgive herself if a fellow passenger dies after catching
the disease.
In an exclusive TV interview newlywed Sarah Speaker broke down
and cried as she told the world she was sorry.
She said on Good Morning
America: “I don’t know what I would say to that person if they tested positive.
“I’m praying very much that nobody else obviously tests positive.
The
couple explained how Andrew was diagnosed with TB in January 2007, a month after
he proposed to his wife. They insist that when they agreed to travel to Europe
for their wedding and honeymoon US health officials did not tell him he would be
a risk to others if he traveled.
The interview took place in the National

ABC News: TB Patient's Relative to Be Investigated:

"A federal microbiologist, the father-in-law of the man quarantined with a
drug-resistant form of tuberculosis, will be investigated to see how he was
involved in the case, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said
Saturday.
Meanwhile, the CDC said it has withdrawn the federal isolation
order for TB patient Andrew Speaker because a Denver health agency's order to
detain him at a hospital there is sufficient to protect the public's health. The
action ends the first federal quarantine order since 1963."

Now to hunt down the source of the disease.

ABC News: Gates Warns Turkey Not to Invade Iraq:

"Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Sunday cautioned Turkey against sending
troops into northern Iraq, as it has threatened, to hunt down Kurdish rebels it
accuses of carrying out terrorist raids inside Turkey. "

Is Turkey the next threat in the region. Could it be that Turkey is waiting for the end of unrest in Iraq to see who holds the power, before they make a move into Iraq to attack the Kurds.

We can't keep the whole region stable, we don't have enough troops, enough money or enough political capital in the region. At some point they need to choose for themselves peace over war.

Rumer Has It: Willis Defends Pal Lindsay Lohan - The Hollywood Gossip:

"The perplexing Rumer Willis, the eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and
Demi Moore, is remaining by pal Lindsay Lohan’s side as the troubled star deals
with rehab and DUI charges.
“I haven’t talked to her, but I wish her the

“I think there a lot of people that are supporting her. It’s been

It is good to know that Lindsay has friends that are helping her. In the end the person that needs to support her the most is herself. She can be the next Drew Barrymore or she can be yet another washed up star, forgotten in a couple years.

Hey Lindsay, I'll show you all the best spots to smoke your cigarettes, and the spots to sit so the photographers can take pictures of you looking sad. Don't forget to write a journal that you can sell later on e-bay, ok girl.

I don't know that this is going to help Lindsay, but can it hurt. I don't know that Britney is the rock that anyone should be leaning on right now. If rumors are true Promises didn't do much for her drinking habit.
