The problem with much of this talk, and similar talk that blames the government or the media, is who they are. They are the people who created this spirit on patriotism, that allowed a unfortunate war to take place. Who are they, they are us.

Could the surge be working, could even government reform be just around the corner. This is a long hard process, but like all long hard processes there come moments when change happens at a rapid pace that was underestimated. I strongly believe that Iraq needs more time, the people in Iraq don't want to live in violence, and by giving them the ability to have a voice, by creating peace, they will demand change. There are some who will never accept any positive news coming out of Iraq, it is a shame, you can't talk to those people - there is no point.

squash the ascension of rising star Ann Curry.

It really is open season on Katie isn't it. If people keep treating her like this, there will only be one thing that she will be able to do. Run for president, or as vice president with Hilary.

Katie seems to be the target of a strangely high number of attacks. I don't want to think it is because she is a womyn, but facts are that you don't see this level of talk about Martin Bashir or other male anchors who have just taken the top seats. Katie is strong though, she can make it through this, and her fans will love her more for it.

I do think that she makes a good point, in that we should remember that this is real persons life. It is easy for us to watch it like it is a movie and make our judgements but it isn't our life and we are not living it.

This is part of what I have been saying. This is something that works great in the morning, but doesn't work for the evening news. I have said before that it was an issue of male viewers and female viewers, but it may also be a case of timing, and what people expect at different times of the day.

Looks like Katie is sinking even lower in the rankings. To set this in perspective, I think that all of the nightly news shows are losing viewers. The problem I believe for Katie is not that she is a womyn, but that her viewers were mostly womyn in the morning - now they are mostly men. It isn't an issue of men not wanting to watch a womyn give them news, they expect different things from their news, and the show is still aimed at an audience of womyn.

Michelle explains why she thinks that Couric's ratings are so low. In the same clip O'Reilly claims that it is because Americans won't trust a womyn to give them their news. I think he should only speak for himself.
