Pelosi: I Want to Bring Back 'Fairness Doctrine' | NewsBusters.org

Pelosi: I Want to Bring Back 'Fairness Doctrine' NewsBusters.org:

"Over at HumanEvents.com, John Gizzi has House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
(D-Calif.) on the record saying that the Democratic caucus, far from being
agnostic on the so-called Fairness Doctrine, is actually interested in
resurrecting it. What's more, Pelosi herself wants to bring back the policy that
could literally silence conservative talk radio."

I think this is a bad policy, it serves to limit speech not promote it.

Media Matters - Savage makes degrading comments about House Speaker, other prominent Dem women

Media Matters - Savage makes degrading comments about House Speaker, other prominent Dem women:

"Summary: Michael Savage referred to Rep. Jane Harman, House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi, and Sen. Barbara Boxer as 'yentas,' said Harman should '[g]o home and
cook verenikis,' and suggested that they were in office because they 'have rich
husbands who put them in power with their money, so they could have a little
hobby in between getting their nails done.' Summary: Michael Savage referred to

Reid and Pelosi on the NIE: Bush's "surge" failed. We need a new plan for Iraq. Now.

Reid and Pelosi on the NIE: Bush's "surge" failed. We need a new plan for Iraq. Now.

Every day that we continue to stick to the President's flawed strategy is a day
that America is not as secure as it could be. As the intelligence community
reported in another NIE just weeks ago, America's attention is distracted from
Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda, which has regenerated its capacity to its pre-9/11
levels. That is why it is so essential that this September, Republicans join
with Democrats to change course in Iraq and work to restore our nation's
security.

The surge was never about political success, it was about meeting the military challenges in Iraq, to create space for their to be a political solution. There is not success in terms of a stable government being in place. However I don't think that this is a total failure either. Just a couple weeks ago, Maliki was able to take a trip to Tikrit to visit a Sunni leader. I don't think that this visit could have taken place without the surge to create the security to enable Maliki to travel.

Nancy Pelosi's Choice

Hugh Hewitt: Nancy Pelosi's Choice

"The McConnell-Bond bill that revises and updates the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act passed the Senate with strong bipartisan support of 17 Democratic senators. It is a crucially necessary bit of legislation given that FISA is not only 30 years old, it has also been crippled by the 'secret ruling by a FISA judge earlier this year that declared surveillance of purely foreign communications that pass through a U.S. communications node illegal without a court-approved warrant -- a requirement that intelligence officials have described as unacceptably burdensome.'"

This bill is too important to be playing politics with. I think that congress has created an atmosphere where the hatred of the president is outrageous. They trust the president so little that they wouldn't allow him to hold their wallet, if it were empty. This is partly due to Bush and the way he has governed and he has to be honest about that. The truth is that it is harming America though, and some kind of solution needs to be worked out.
