Michelle Malkin » Jimmy Carter said what? Part 999
Michelle Malkin » Jimmy Carter said what? Part 999:
Is he honestly trying to say that attempts to take power away from a gang of thugs that are ideologically driven to the destruction of Israel is criminal? Is he honestly saying by not arming a terrorist group that will not agree to a peaceful relations with its neighbors is criminal? The criminals are the terrorists of Hamas, I understand that parts of Hamas are not active in terror. It is not a choice of supporting Fatah and Hamas or just supporting Fatah. It is a choice of supporting Fatah, or doing nothing for the Palestinian people at all.
"The United States, Israel and the European Union must end their policy of
favoring Fatah over Hamas, or they will doom the Palestinian people to deepening
conflict between the rival movements, former US President Jimmy Carter said
Tuesday.
Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate who was addressing a
conference of Irish human rights officials, said the Bush administration’s
refusal to accept the 2006 election victory of Hamas was “criminal.”"

Media Matters - On MSNBC, Cramer asked if Carter "play[s] for another nation" or "his own fifth column":
One of the strongest reasons that I think that political attacks are so negative is that they lead to more political attacks. I think it was not right for Carter to speak the way he did about Bush, and I think it is not right for Carter to be addressed in this tone. Where has the respect gone in our national dialogue?
"On the May 21 edition of MSNBC's Jim Cramer Live, while discussing former President Jimmy Carter's criticism of President Bush, host Jim Cramer asked: 'Who does he play for, Carter? Does he play for himself? Does he play for another nation? Does he play for his own
fifth column?' According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, a 'fifth column' is a
'clandestine group or faction of subversive agents who attempt to undermine a
nation's solidarity by any means at their disposal.'On the May 21 edition of MSNBC's Jim Cramer Live, while discussing former President Jimmy Carter's criticism of President Bush, host Jim Cramer asked: 'Who does he play for, Carter? This Round Goes To President Carter [Oliver Willis: Like Kryptonite To Stupid]
This Round Goes To President Carter [Oliver Willis: Like Kryptonite To Stupid]:
I think this whole spat is immature and distasteful for all those involved. I think it should be above the dignity of a former president to make attacks of this nature against a current president.
"The White House on Sunday fired back at former President Jimmy Carter, calling
him 'increasingly irrelevant' a day after Carter described George W. Bush's
presidency as the worst in history in international relations."
I think this whole spat is immature and distasteful for all those involved. I think it should be above the dignity of a former president to make attacks of this nature against a current president.
