Really it could be a good thing for the party for all of the above mentioned people to leave. Ultimately the Democratic party is weakened by people who join for less than ideological reasons and the Republican Party is strengthen when people who didn't share core values exit. This is a crazy story, crimes like this happen every day to normal people and it isn't news. It doesn't mean anything, it doesn't mean crime is up or down, or tax cuts are needed or not needed. It is what it is, and what it is, is a man who wanted money for something and asked the first person he thought he could get it from.

If we cannot keep more of our own money, muggers are going to have to work over time. This guy could have gotten everything he wanted from one victim, but because Mika Brzezinski only had a measly six bucks, he had to probably go hold up a couple or three more people to make his take. That puts that many more people in danger, and, of course, the mugger risks getting caught with each attempt here at fleecing somebody. He could end up in jail as well. I mean, how is it that Drive-By infobabe on the road doesn't have enough money to help out a fellow citizen who's down on his luck. This country is better than that.

There are two people who need to worry about this, the person paying for the wages, and the person getting paid. It is no one else's business.

What ever you say about Rush, he knows how to make the money. There are a lot of people who are entertained by him, and more people than might be assumed who agree with him.

I don't think that there is anything that points to this being true. It can be said that people are tired of Bush, and maybe even tired of the Republicans, but many of those people aren't liberals. Many conservatives are tired of Republicans that aren't conservative enough for them.

Agree or not, there does seem to be a very strong cultural difference between the response in New Orleans and that in Iowa and Illinois. Is it a race issue, I think to claim that is insulting to the people of colour that live in Iowa and Illinois. I don't think it is about race, it is about those who act and those who wait.

Media Matters - AP misrepresented context of Limbaugh "phony soldiers" comment:

"A September 28 Associated Press article about comments made by Rush
Limbaugh on his September 26 radio show -- in which, as documented by Media
Matters for America, he called service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from
Iraq "phony soldiers" -- reported: "In a transcript of Thursday's show posted on
his Web site, Limbaugh said the comment followed a discussion of Jesse Macbeth,
who was sentenced to five months in prison earlier this month for collecting
more than $10,00 [sic] in benefits to which he was not entitled." In fact, the
"phony soldiers" comment did not "follow a discussion of Jesse Macbeth";
Limbaugh did not mention MacBeth on the September 26 radio show until 1 minute
and 50 seconds after his "phony soldiers" comment, as Media Matters noted."

This isn't overwhelming evidence, but it is enough to raise the doubt that he was talking about a soldier who was a phony. Not making a statement about all soldiers who disagree with him about the war. I don't know what side to believe in this, and don't believe that it makes much difference.

Is our congress stuck in such a bad place that the only things that can get done is to denounce or attempt to denounce each others speech. It wasn't the right thing when it was in response to the vile ad from MoveOn, and it isn't now.

It is good to see the White House take a solid and reliable stand on the honor of the troops. Even in the face of their own political foot soldiers.

Clearly in Limbaugh's view of the world there are two kinds of soldiers. One that accepts the views of the president and the right on the war, and bad soldiers. This is highly insulting to the troops, claiming that if they don't stand the party line when they come home from Iraq, that some how they are not real soldiers. I think the contrary is true, it takes a real solider to come home from a war, and speak what they view to be the truth of that war.
