DNC protests will be behind fence - The Denver Post
DNC protests will be behind fence - The Denver Post:
If all the protesters were there to peacefully express themselves, and their opinions about the war, this wouldn't be a problem. I would like to think that this is the case. However there are people there who would like to throw rocks, and who will use violence as a means of dissent. There needs to be protection to prevent these people from causing harm.
"The fence around the public demonstration zone outside the Democratic National
Convention will be chicken wire or chain link, authorities revealed in U.S.
District Court today."

Major Networks Avoid Dem Senators' Countrywide Loan Scandals | NewsBusters.org
Major Networks Avoid Dem Senators' Countrywide Loan Scandals NewsBusters.org:
Sounds like someone should be looking into this.
"As we've noted at NewsBusters, there's been scant coverage of a new
scandal involving Sens. Chris Dodd (Conn.) and Kent Conrad (N.D.). Both senators
chair committees with oversight of the financial industry and Dodd is behind a
bailout package for mortgage lender Countrywide. Both senators got 'VIP'
treatment from Countrywide Financial for refinancing agreements on their
respective mortgages."
Sounds like someone should be looking into this.

impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney"

Daily Kos: Resolution Condemning Limbaugh to be Introduced on Monday
Daily Kos: Resolution Condemning Limbaugh to be Introduced on Monday:
Is our congress stuck in such a bad place that the only things that can get done is to denounce or attempt to denounce each others speech. It wasn't the right thing when it was in response to the vile ad from MoveOn, and it isn't now.
"It appears that Representative (and Senate candidate) Mark Udall will be
introducing a resolution on Monday which would seek to condemn Rush Limbaugh's
obscene attack on the integrity and patriotism of American service
members."

A Tiny Revolution: The Iron Law Of Institutions Strikes Again!
A Tiny Revolution: The Iron Law Of Institutions Strikes Again!:
Maybe it wasn't personal ambition but personal conviction that made them vote for this law.
"The vote today condemning the Moveon Petraeus ad is an excellent example of the
Iron Law of Institutions—ie, that people within institutions act to increase
their own power rather than the power of the institution itself. A retarded
baboon could understand it was in the long run best interests of the Democratic
party as an institution to stand united against the bill. Yet 22 Democrats voted
for it, thus passing it 70+ to 25."
Maybe it wasn't personal ambition but personal conviction that made them vote for this law.

DEMS TO BUSH: A.G. MUKASEY? NOT SO FAST | Air America Radio
DEMS TO BUSH: A.G. MUKASEY? NOT SO FAST Air America Radio:
This is a sly trick, and I don't think that the White House is going to go for it. It is open blackmail if you ask me. Holding up the confirmation as a means to the political ends of the democrats. The justice department will suffer, and the country will suffer. If this man is able and trusted for the job, put him in office, he may be an ally. Starting off the relationship of congress with the new AG in this manner will not enable a trust worthy relationship in the future.
"Patrick Leahy warned yesterday that Mukasey will not get confirmed until the
Judiciary committee gets the information it wants on the US attorney firings and
the warrantless wiretapping program: “All I want is the material we need to ask
some questions about the former attorney general’s conduct, on torture and
warrantless wiretapping, so we can legitimately ask, ‘Here’s what was done in
the past, what will you do?"

Ted Stevens had oil company employees renovate his home - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth:
This clearly sounds dirty to me, he should be voted out of office. Seats of congress are not a ticket to get work done on your house for free. That is taking advantage of the trust the people have placed in you as a leader.
"Ex-Veco Corp. CEO Bill Allen admitted in court Friday that he had company
employees work several months on a remodeling project at the Girdwood home of
U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens. The former head of the oil field services company made
the admission Friday while testifying in the federal corruption trial of a
former state lawmaker."

Crooks and Liars » Romney Attacks Democrats Lack Of Experience in Foreign Policy:
He has a point, but it isn't a point that helps him any since he doesn't have any more experience than they do. The best person in terms of foreign policy experience is Hilary. She has been around the world and met leaders as the first lady.
"If nothing else, Mitt Romney is a perpetual irony machine. Yesterday, Romney
added to his legend by proclaiming that his three leading Democratic opponents -
all U.S. Senators - lack his foreign policy experience"

Dems balk at MoveOn censure resolution
Dems balk at MoveOn censure resolution
Republicans had hoped to force Democrats into the uncomfortable position of
voting for a measure to officially denounce an organization that has helped
raise millions for party candidates in recent elections.
"This smear campaign consisted of entirely unwarranted and fallacious attacks, and sought to impugn the name of a highly respected man of integrity," said Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican.
Granting fools the right to speak freely allows you to know who the fools are and just how foolish they are. The democrats don't need to be pressured into taking a stand on this, the American people can judge for themselves if they like their generals being slandered. It is my opinion that this was an attack of a personal nature that is extremely unproductive.

A Blog For All: 11 Democrats Arrested For Corruption in New Jersey
A Blog For All: 11 Democrats Arrested For Corruption in New Jersey:
This election season we have a clear choice before us, there are two parties with two clear visions of the world that they want to create. One is a party of sex scandals and the other is a party of financial scandals. Maybe if the sex scandal party were better with the financial scams they would have been able to keep their secrets. If the financial party had been better with their sex scandals, they wouldn't need to raise all that money to feel good about themselves.
"It all started with a federal sting operation in Southern New Jersey, and soon
the crooked politicians were pointing out other crooked politicians who would
want in on the action. That's how it grew to encompass so many. "

News Hounds: Best evidence yet that Democrats were correct to decline FOX-hosted debates
News Hounds: Best evidence yet that Democrats were correct to decline FOX-hosted debates:
So the Democrats didn't go to the Fox Debate because they couldn't deal with tough questions? They couldn't deal with being pushed a little in their questions. This may be an example of what some of the questions would have been like, but it is still a cheap excuse to not do the debate.
"'So, Congressman Paul ... you’re basically saying that we should take our
marching orders from al Qaeda?' Fox host Chris Wallace asked. 'If they want us
off the Arabian Peninsula, we should leave?'"

Dems already discount war report - - The Washington Times, America's Newspaper:
This is partisan politics, and it isn't fair. Wait for the report to come out, then comment on what is actually in the report. Being critical of what you claim you know is going to be in the report isn't honest or just.
"Congressional Democrats are trying to undermine U.S. Army Gen. David H.
Petraeus' credibility before he delivers a report on the Iraq war next week,
saying the general is a mouthpiece for President Bush and his findings can't be
trusted. 'The Bush report?' Senate Majority Whip Richard J. Durbin said when
asked about the upcoming report from Gen. Petraeus, U.S. commander in Iraq."

Disgraced Dem donor arrested in Colorado - Yahoo! News:
Guess he is going to be sitting in jail until his trial now. It was stupid to run, the least he could have done was flee the country.
"SAN FRANCISCO - Disgraced Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu was arrested
in Colorado late Thursday after he failed to show up for a court appearance
related to a felony theft conviction. FBI agents took Hsu into custody at St.
Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., said FBI spokesman Joseph Schadler.
Hsu had been scheduled to appear in court Wednesday to turn over his passport
and ask a judge to cut in half the $2 million bail he posted last week when he
turned himself in after spending 15 years on the lam from a felony theft
conviction."

A Blog For All: Hsu Jumped Bail Again
A Blog For All: Hsu Jumped Bail Again:
Hilary is going to take a real hit on this. First there was the money that connected her to a criminal. Then there was the bogus claims that he did not know that the law was looking for him. Now he appears to have jumped bail again, no doubt he thinks that since he hid for this long he can hide again. I don't know how closely Hilary is connected to this fraud, but the best thing for her to do would be to come out and publicly call for him to return to the court. Other candidates have been connected with Hsu as well, I don't know all the details but I know that Obama had to return some of his money.
"A top Democratic fundraiser whose criminal past has roiled the campaigns of top
presidential candidates failed to appear Wednesday for a bail hearing and a
judge issued a new warrant for his arrest. Norman Hsu, who had been a fugitive
for more than 15 years, forfeits the $2 million bail he posted last week. His
attorney said Wednesday he didn't know where his client was."

A Blog For All: Democrats Face Hsu-icide?:
Connections like this point to what could be a conspiracy, but they also could point to nothing. I am not sold.
"Last November, Schwartz and Hsu chaired a New School banquet at the
Mandarin Oriental in New York which featured Sen. Clinton as keynote speaker.
Clinton steered a $1 million federal grant to the college. More recently,
Schwartz and Hsu (pronounced shoo) appeared together at the New York Yacht Club
for Democratic Rep. Patrick Kennedy's 40th birthday bash..."

Democrats Boycott Rogue Primaries Redstate:
I think this is a good patch, but it is just a patch. What really needs to be done is a solid change of the system before the next presidential election. The system is broken and it needs to be repaired.
"I shall not campaign or participate in any state which schedules a presidential
election primary or caucus before Feb. 5, 2008, except for the states of Iowa,
Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina, as 'campaigning' is defined by the
rules and regulations of the DNC. It does not include activities specifically
related to raising campaign resources such as fundraising events or the hiring
of fundraising staff."
