X17 XCLUSIVE - Britney's Parents Babysitting

X17 XCLUSIVE - Britney's Parents Babysitting

This Friday Britney's parents took care of Sean and Jayden at Kevin's
house, while Kevin was off shooting "One Tree Hill" in North Carolina -- Looks
like the only thing that could bring these two divorcees back together is their
grandchildren and while the two seem to embrace daddy Kevin, momma Britney is
left behind ... Can't you all just get along, people?! For the sake of the kids?

There are some cute pictures if you click the link - yeah I can't post them here, don't want to get sued. Does the fact that Brit's mom and dad have the kids mean that maybe Brit's relationship with her family is improving? I hope so, those kids are going to need as many loving people in their life as they can get.

Margaret Carlson: 'Democratic Base Is Really the Middle American Base' NewsBusters.org

While I think that this is true, I also thought this was true just before the election in 2000. I was so certain that a republican wouldn't win then, I wasn't even concerned who the nominee was. Remember the debates on the left were all about Gore and Nader. Well the left lost in 2000 and it can lose in 2008, and you might to know why. Because Americans are lazy about voting, they love to pontificate about how poorly the country is being run, but find it harder to voice their concerns in a vote. It was pointed out in 2000 that if everyone who didn't vote, voted for Nader, he would have won by a landslide. That is also why all the polls are so pointless, at the end of the day the only count that matters is the election. At the end of the day there is no prediction on who is going to show and vote for whom, and who is going to stay home.

Did Miniter Go Too Far?

It is asked if Miniter went to far, and made the attack on Beauchamp too personal. What I wonder is if this is all about politics being too personal. Everything from the stories themselves that seem to have been written by Beauchamp as a personal attack against the armed services. To the pundits who believed it, because they wanted to believe it - perhaps if they were not so personally attached to their ideas they would have seen the problems in the story. That includes people who worked at the magazine, was their relationship with the author too personal - he was engaged to one of the fact checkers, would a more objective fact checker seen the errors in the story? Even the attacks against the story, came out so fast and hot, that many of them must have been personal. Like those who are against the war, they have gotten too attached to their ideas and see any attack on them as personal. In the end, the last question is what does this mean for political dialogue in this country.

Did Affirmative Action Hold Down The Number Of Black Attorneys?

This is an interesting idea. What it amounts to is that by placing people in situations that they were not prepared for, they did worse overall than if they had either earned that level or worked at the level where they were suited. There is some logic to the fact that they could be overwhelmed by the work, and over looked for being in the lower sections of their classes.

Another Brace Of Dhimmitude From American Newspapers

Another Brace Of Dhimmitude From American Newspapers

Today's strip features Steve Dallas and his on-again, off-again paramour and
spiritual flibbertigibbet Lola Granola. In the strip, she has changed her name
to "Fatima Struggle" and argues that she now knows not to resist a "man's
rightful place". That's it; no exploding bombs, no images of Muhammed, no
violence.
Also, no newspaper has addressed its decision to black out
Breathed for today and next Sunday. It's possible that next Sunday has something
more objectionable, but if today's strip is any indication, the reasoning is
that newspapers refuse to show any kind of satire that targets Islam, even if
specifically aimed at its radical extremes.

Are Newspapers letting their readers down by choosing to not publish these cartoons. I have read the first, and there might be more in the series as Ed indicates, but it is harmless. Is it fair for an American newspaper to censor itself for fear of a backlash from the Arab population. A backlash that doesn't appear to be manifesting since the cartoon has been on the net for a couple days at least now. Would the choice to block this out, influence how much you trust their news department, and if they might make similar choices.

WTF is a "militant"

WTF is a "militant"

mil·i·tant /ˈmɪlɪtÉ™nt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[mil-i-tuhnt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective
1.vigorously active and aggressive, esp. in support of a cause: militant reformers.
2.engaged in warfare; fighting. –noun
3.a militant person.
4.a person engaged in warfare or combat.

I am so sick and tired of the parallel language the leftarded PC media has
created for murderers and savages. Headline from the NY Times. The "militant"
was an Islamic Jihad leader. Don't those jihadi tools at the Times make you
sick? Think about it.

This nature of language is used to attempt to be neutral regarding the participants in the conflict.

Why Chertoff? Officials say he's got fans on Capitol Hill, is untouched by the

An interesting rumor going around Washington, it sounds like a lateral move to me though. This is the same person that said that we couldn't protect America from illegal immigrants, and was connected closely to the disaster in New Orleans.

Ron Paul on homosexuality, sin and 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

Ron Paul on homosexuality, sin and 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

LOFTON: We'll try to stop anyone from getting in the military who is a
homosexual, who is an adulterer, who is a fornicator, and then other categories
that indicate a character flaw. Why we shouldn't try to do that?"PAUL: Looking
it in protecting the military if they are going to perform the services, and
they are imperfect -- because we're all imperfect and we all sin. If a
heterosexual or homosexual sins, that to me is the category of dealing with
their own soul. Since we cannot have only perfect people going in the military I
want to separate the two because I don't want to know the heterosexual flaws,
nor the homosexual flaws and that's why I got in some trouble with some of the
civil libertarians because I don't have any problem with Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
Because I don't think that, for the practicality of running a military, I'd just
as soon not know every serious thing that any heterosexual or homosexual did,
and those flaws have to do with all our flaws because each and everyone one of
us has those imperfections.

This is actually a some what understandable reason to support don't ask don't tell. It sounds like he is saying that he doesn't want to know what is going on in people's bedrooms. There is some logic to that, but just because something is logical does not mean it is practical.

Party rules ban states other than Iowa (Jan. 14), Nevada (Jan. 19), New

An interesting explanation of why the calendar was set up as it is. What is not clear is why Iowa and New Hampshire are so important.

Blogging the Qur’an: Sura 4, “Women,” verses 1-16

Blogging the Qur’an: Sura 4, “Women,” verses 1-16

V. 3 is the basis for Islamic polygamy, allowing a man to take as many as four
wives, as long as he believes he is able to “deal justly” with all of them. For
according to the Mishkat Al-Masabih, Muhammad said: “The person who has two
wives, but is not just between them, shall appear on the Day of Judgment in such
a condition that one half of his body will be collapsing.” But of course,
justice in these circumstances is in the eye of the beholder. Ibn Kathir says
this the requirement to deal justly with one’s wives is no big deal, since
treating them justly isn’t the same as treating them equally: “it is not
obligatory to treat them equally, rather it is recommended. So if one does so,
that is good, and if not, there is no harm on him.”

It seems like it would be hard to be honestly just with even one womyn, but more than one would be impossible.

Iraqi leaders sign unity accord

Iraqi leaders sign unity accord

Iraqi Shia, Sunni and Kurdish leaders have signed a reconciliation deal, Prime
Minister Nouri Maliki says.
The accord was the second step towards rebuilding Iraq's political process, Mr Maliki said, after four Kurdish and Shia parties formed a new alliance.

Is this success in the political process, no. It is one step closer to that success though, a step that may not have been possible without the enhanced security in Iraq that resulted from the surge.

Ex-Iraqi leader returning 'to fight for our country'

Ex-Iraqi leader returning 'to fight for our country'

Al-Maliki leads a government loyal to Iran and Shiite interests, Allawi
said, accusing al-Maliki of "supporting militias to take the rule of law in
their hands."
Allawi said Sunday that he would not participate in a sectarian government and will return to Baghdad soon to "reverse the course in Iraq."

If Allawi is going to return and take an active role in government then this is good news. It will either pressure Al-Maliki to work across party lines to make the government stronger. If he fails that, it gives a political voice to those who oppose Al-Maliki, a strong political voice of reason against Al-Maliki could encourage the parties to put down their weapons and join the political process.

Turning Up the Heat on Fred Thompson

Turning Up the Heat on Fred Thompson

“We’re getting very, very close,” Thompson said during a short speech outside
the beautiful West Nashville home of attorney Gary and Lou Ann Brown where this
event took place. Brown is an attorney with Baker Donelson, Howard Baker’s law
firm, in Nashville. (He also worked for Thompson as special counsel on the U.S.
Senate committee on Governmental Affairs in 2002 at the time his good friend
then Senator Thompson was the topranking member of that committee.)

They have been getting very close for a long time, in fact I think that Thompson's race is starting to remind me of the race between the turtle and Achilles. The turtle gets a head start, and when Achilles starts he covers half the distance in half the time, he continues to cover half the distance in half the time - but never catches up. Fred is getting closer and closer, but will he ever join the race.

Federal judge to illegal alien: No worries, just deport yourself

He un-undocumented himself by adopting the identity of a dead child and using it
to obtain fraudulent ID papers. The feds caught him and asked for a removal
order that would have barred the guy from re-entering the U.S. in the future.

This is actually a little more complex than it sounds, at least I think it is. The question is based around if the mans wife should be sent back to Mexico or not. The man obtained his citizenship illegally, and used that citizenship to attain his wives entrance. The person who clearly broke the law in this case is the man, who has been sent back to Mexico. The wife claims that she did not know that her citizenship was based on illegal papers. Should she be punished, when she did not break the law. The children clearly are citizens, and they can use that to petition for their fathers return when they become adults.

A strong case has been made that at least the wife should be sent back. Her entrance was obtained by fake documents, and her being here and the kids being here means the husband is certain to attempt to return. Is it fair to punish her, based on actions that the husband might take to re-unite with her? The people at fault in her gaining her entrance are the husband, and the institution that failed to catch the document fraud. Is it fair to punish her for their actions?

Newsweek: Jihadis nearly killed Osama in 2004 to prevent capture by U.S. troops

Newsweek: Jihadis nearly killed Osama in 2004 to prevent capture by U.S. troops

To catch bin Laden [at Tora Bora], the CIA was left to lean on local tribesmen,
a slender reed. NEWSWEEK recently interviewed two of the three tribal chiefs
involved in the operation, Hajji Zahir and Hajji Zaman. They claimed that the
CIA overly relied on the third chieftain, Hazrat Ali—and that Ali was paid off
(to the tune of $6 million) by Al Qaeda to let bin Laden slip away. Ali could
not be reached for comment. But Crumpton, who admits that he has no hard
evidence, told NEWSWEEK he is “confident” that a payoff allowed Al Qaeda to
escape. Unsure which side would win, some tribesmen apparently hedged by taking
money from both sides.

Since it isn't accurate to say that we have won, it could be said that they still don't know who is going to win. If they still don't know who is going to win, they could be playing both sides to this day. It has been a statement I have made in the past, and it is a statement I am making again. I don't think that Bin Laden went anywhere. Before I pointed out how easy it would have been for him to retreat deep into the cave system and remain hidden. It would be far easier to do this than actually attempt to flee across open land where he might be seen. It is that much easier if you have paid off contacts that can look the other way - or cover for you.

Hitchens: 13 reasons why Bush’s Vietnam analogy is moronic

Hitchens: 13 reasons why Bush’s Vietnam analogy is moronic

1) The Vietminh, later the Vietnamese NLF, were allies of the United States and Britain against the Axis during the Second World War. The Iraqi Baath party was on the other side.
2) Ho Chi Minh quoted Thomas Jefferson in proclaiming Vietnam's own declaration of independence, a note that has hardly been struck in Baathist or jihadist propaganda.
3) Vietnam was resisting French colonialism and had defeated it by 1954 at Dien Bien Phu; the real 'war' was therefore over before the US even landed troops in the country.
4) The subsequent conflict was fought to preserve an imposed partition of a country striving to reunify itself; if anything, the Iraqi case is the reverse.
5) The Vietnamese leadership appealed to the UN: the Saddamists and their jihadist allies murdered the first UN envoy to arrive in Iraq, saying that he was fit only for death because he had assisted in securing the independence of East Timor from Indonesia.
6) Vietnam never threatened any other country; Iraq under Saddam invaded two of its neighbours and declared one of them (Kuwait) to be part of Iraq itself.
7) Vietnam was a victim of chemical and ecological warfare; Iraq was the perpetrator of such illegal methods and sought to develop even worse nuclear and biological ones.
8) Vietnam neither sponsored nor encouraged terrorist tactics beyond its borders; Iraq under Saddam was a haven for Abu Nidal and other random killers and its 'insurgents' now proclaim war on Hindus, Jews, unbelievers and the wrong sort of Muslim.
9) There has for years been a 'people's war' fought by genuine guerrillas in Iraq; it is the war of liberation conducted by Kurdish fighters against genocide and dictatorship. Inconveniently for all analogies, these fighters are ranged on the side of the US and Britain.
10) The Iraqi Communist party and the Iraqi labour movement advocated the overthrow of Saddam (if not necessarily by Bush), a rather conspicuous difference from the situation in Indochina. These forces still form a part of the tenuous civil society that is fighting to defend itself against the parties of God.
11) The American-sponsored regimes in Vietnam tended, among other things, to be strongly identified with one confessional minority (Catholic) to the exclusion of secular, nationalist and Buddhist forces. The elected government in Iraq may have a sectarian hue, but at least it draws upon hitherto repressed majority populations - Kurds and Shias - and at least the American embassy works as a solvent upon religious and ethnic divisions rather than an inciter of them.
12) President Eisenhower admitted that if there had ever been a fair election in Vietnam, it would have been won by Ho Chi Minh; the Baath party's successors refused to participate in the Iraqi elections and their jihadist allies declared that democracy was an alien concept and threatened all voters with murder.
13) The Americans in Vietnam employed methods ('search and destroy'; 'body count') and weapons (napalm, Agent Orange) that targeted civilians. Today, those who make indiscriminate war on the innocent show their hand on the streets of Baghdad and are often the proxies of neighbouring dictatorships or of international gangster organisations.

Man Tries To Open Airliner Door Inflight - Aero-News Network

Argh! For the last time: you should not attempt to open the cabin door of a
commercial airliner while inflight... OK? Not only is it next to impossible to
do so, but you'll also attract the ire -- and probably the fists -- from your
fellow passengers during the attempt.
One passenger onboard a Frontier Airlines flight from Denver to New York reportedly learned this lesson the hard way Saturday morning, after he tried to open a door while the Airbus A319 was at altitude.

Breaking News, opening the door of an airliner while it at a high altitude will result first of all in your own death - the vacuum would pull you out. It could also result in the deaths of others on the plane. Most people know this, so what will more likely happen is you will get beat up pretty good and then arrested.

Why is Greece on fire?

"People in Athens, but also around Greece, are becoming more green," says Dr.
Georgiadis, who said that hundreds of people called the WWF office in the
aftermath of that fire, outraged and offering to help. "Since the response that
we got after the big forest fire on Parnitha mountain, there is a big change.
More and more people became sensitive on environmental matters."
Greece has one of the worst records in the European Union on environmental issues, and on forest protection in particular. Environmental groups say recycling is in its
infancy, development is largely unregulated, and protected areas neglected.

The concern appears to be that people are setting these fires to clear the land to develop it later. Greece has no record of its National Park lands, which makes it easy for that land to be encroached on by developers. Humyn's relationship with the environment is actually a very delicate and precious balance, and when it is out of balance, it leads to disasters.

The scene was a fifth grade graduation ceremony in Charlotte, N.C., and the star
of the amateur video was not exactly the student body, but a teacher's body.
"The video was three and a half minutes of me. It would go to my face, to my
butt, to my face," said former elementary school teacher Keri McIntyre. "And

Flour trail at IKEA sparks terror scare

Flour trail at IKEA sparks terror scare

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Two people who sprinkled flour in a parking lot to mark a
trail for their offbeat running club inadvertently caused a bioterrorism scare
and now face a felony charge. The sprinkled powder forced hundreds to
evacuate an IKEA furniture store Thursday.
New Haven ophthalmologist Daniel Salchow, 36, and his sister, Dorothee, 31, who is visiting from Hamburg, Germany, were both charged with first-degree breach of peace, a felony.

This is silly, are they really going to charge someone for putting flour on the ground. It wasn't done to scare people, that would be different, it was done to mark a course for runners. When they heard that there was a problem, they returned to the scene to clear things up.

If you punish them, you are punishing them based on the reaction from the public and authorities - not a very consistent basis for punishment. You would also be punishing them for coming forward to explain, how many people would do that. Much less if they see that their mistake could land them a felony charge. Charges would be warranted if they had performed this action with the intention to cause fear - or if they were not forthcoming with authorities.

Why would the IKEA in New Haven, Conn. even be a target?
