Celebrity News Gossip:

"A source close to the woman, whose name is being withheld by The NATIONAL
ENQUIRER, says that she confessed to having an affair in phone calls and emails,
saying that her work with Edwards soon exploded into romance. The shocking
allegation — if proven true — could devastate the Democratic hopeful's campaign,
especially because John's devoted wife Elizabeth is locked in a desperate battle
with breast cancer. "

This is breaking news... could this be the end of Edwards. Where is this womyn, someone should reward her for being honest, and for saving America.

Islamists damage giant rock Buddha - Telegraph

Islamists damage giant rock Buddha - Telegraph:

"The 23ft high image was damaged during the attack, which brought back
memories of the Taliban's destruction six years ago of the giant Buddhas at
Bamiyan, in neighbouring Afghanistan."

Is this the culture that tolerance wants us to accept as being legitimate. Not all Muslims are terrorists, but within the heart of Islam itself is a hatred and fear of the other unparalleled in modern society.

Hillary Clinton vows to check growing presidential power - The Boston Globe

Hillary Clinton vows to check growing presidential power - The Boston Globe:

"Senator Hillary Clinton said yesterday that if she is elected president, she
intends to roll back President Bush's expansion of executive authority,
including his use of presidential signing statements to put his own
interpretation on bills passed by Congress or to claim authority to disobey them
entirely."

I doubt that anyone would limit the power of the Presidency once they have the office. It is something that people might actually believe when they say it, but when it comes to being there, they find that they would rather use the power for their own ends. The ends don't have to be bad ends.

"I know Donny Deutsch. He's a good guy. I think he was -- he was probably

Ann speaks her mind, and you can agree or disagree with what she says. It is what makes her a good guest, people are tired of the blah blah blah of people who can't say anything that might offend someone.

lgf: UTSC Muslim Students Get Halal Food - Still Seething:

"The result of numerous faculty, staff and student requests, the new menu was
introduced to the campus on May 29, making all chicken and beef options
certified halal. Despite this, many MSA members say that any establishment that also
serves alcohol and plays dance music is an unsuitable environment for their
dietary needs."

The step of honoring them, and respecting them by serving food in accord with their religion is very respectable. How is this step of friendship rewarded, with a slap in the face. If they want a place that is free of dancers and drinkers of alcohol, let them make that space themselves. The school should not spend money from the general pool, for a special population in the manor they seem to expect.

lgf: Columbia President Denounces Bathroom Graffiti:

"Columbia University president Lee Bollinger invited a genocidal madman who
leads an Islamic supremacist rogue state dedicated to the destruction of Israel
to speak at his school. But he draws the line at bathroom graffiti."

He want to know who said that about his wife and how they got her private phone number...

Atlas Shrugs: Only the King of Colors Can Save

Atlas Shrugs: Only the King of Colors Can Save:

"The symbolism of 'America's favorite building' lit in green (the Islamic
color invoking war) can not be lost on the Muslim world. "

Better not make it red, that is the colour of the Soviet, and the Chinese flags. They might get the wrong ideas.

Michelle Malkin » Why won’t Columbia University release the noose security video?; Update: Associated Press got it wrong?; Update: NYDailyNews says Columbia “stonewalled;” Update:And now…anti-Semitic gr:

"Anti-Semitic graffiti was found on a bathroom stall in Lewisohn Hall earlier
today, University officials reported. The incident occurred only two days after
a noose was found hanging on the door of an African American professor at
Teachers College and just over two weeks after Islamophobic graffiti was found
in a bathroom stall in the International Affairs Building."

This is starting to sound like either one person, or a small group is attempting to get attention.

Daily Kos: What's Behind the Turkish Threat to Send Troops In to Iraq

Daily Kos: What's Behind the Turkish Threat to Send Troops In to Iraq:

"Turkey’s prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has suggested that a vote could
be held next week in Parliament to allow military incursions into Iraq, and
Sadullah Ergin, a senior government official, said today that the motion could
come as early as Monday, according to the state-run Anatolian News Agency. On
Wednesday, the Associated Press reported from the town of Sirnak that Turkish
warplanes and helicopters were attacking positions along the southern border
with Iraq that are suspected of belonging to Kurdish rebels who have been
fighting Turkish forces for years. The prospect of military action by Turkey has
been raised following a recent upsurge in violence blamed on Kurdish rebels. On
Wednesday night, a policeman was killed and six others were injured in a bomb
attack in the Kurdish city of Diyarbakir in southeastern Turkey, the Anatolian
news agency reported. "

The irony is that until now the Kurds have been the least of the concerns in Iraq. They could turn into the biggest problem in Iraq, but also the biggest problem in the Middle East. Battles with Turkey could spill over into both Iraq and Iran, potentially infecting even Syria.

Crooks and Liars » Noose hung on Columbia Professor’s door

Crooks and Liars » Noose hung on Columbia Professor’s door:

" Hundreds of Columbia University teachers and students voiced outrage Wednesday
over a noose found hanging from a black professor’s office door, while police
investigated if it was the work of disgruntled students or a colleague. The
4-foot-long twine noose was found Tuesday on Madonna Constantine’s door at
Teachers College, a graduate school of education affiliated with Columbia. At a
raucous rally Wednesday, Constantine said it was a “blatant act of racism.”"

This is not to condone racist behavior, but to discourage witch hunts. This could be many things, it could be a true racist act, it could be a silly stunt, it could be a personal attack for reasons other than race. The problem is that it isn't clear what it means, and what the motives were. In truth, it could be as simple as someone wanting to get attention, which it has done.

Society has pushed racism out of the main stream of culture, but there is little to nothing that you can do to change peoples minds. It is like those soldiers in the Pacific, who for years after the war was over were attacking people who came onto the island. The war was over, but they never got the message, they didn't understand that they were defeated. Since they felt like they were at war, they wouldn't trust you even if you told them. Racists are the same way, for the most part they have lost the war, even examples like Jenna point to that victory because of the reaction. They either have not, or do not want to understand that their side has failed. You can't reason with them, you can't tell them because they won't trust you. Attacking them only fuels their fears. What is the reaction that should be taken, maybe no reaction, in a case where no one was harmed.

Iraq-China weapons deal a reproach to U.S. policy - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth

Iraq-China weapons deal a reproach to U.S. policy - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth:

"Some guy named Rossmiller has a piece up at the American Prospect analyzing the
highly symbolic -- and completely overlooked -- arms deal between Iraq and China
announced last week. The author sounds like your standard loser Very Serious
Person (fellow at a think tank, former intel officer -- obviously just
masquerading as a real progressive), but the article isn't half bad (if I may
say). It discusses the $100 million agreement for China to supply Iraq with
weapons, saying that the move is basically a big middle finger from Iraqi
government leadership to the U.S., a nonverbal message disapproving of our
political and military strategy there:"

I think this is statement to both parties, and lack of clear action and vision in Iraq.

National Guard Troops Denied Benefits After Longest Deployment Of Iraq War - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth

National Guard Troops Denied Benefits After Longest Deployment Of Iraq War - AMERICAblog: A great nation deserves the truth:

"The Bush administration sent these guys to fight for 729 days instead of 730
days, because had they been sent for 730 days they'd have gotten education
benefits."

This is the cheap kind of shit that bad employers do by hiring people for part time, so they don't have to give them benefits.

Armenian Killings “Genocide” Says Foreign Affairs Cmt. | Air America Radio

Armenian Killings “Genocide” Says Foreign Affairs Cmt. Air America Radio:

"Despite warnings from Bush, the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs
Committee voted 27 to 21 on a resolution to recognize 'the systematic and
deliberate annihilation of 1.5 million Armenians as genocide.” Before the vote
Bush warned, “I urge members to oppose the Armenian genocide resolution now
being considered by the House Foreign Affairs Committee. We all deeply regret
the tragic suffering of the Armenian people that began in 1915. This resolution
is not the right response to these historic mass killings, and its passage would
do great harm to our relations with a key ally in NATO and in the global war on
terror. "

I don't suggest that politics should be more important than what is right, but it should be more important than empty gestures. This is like when people come forward with apologies for things that happened 500 years ago. Those who really suffered are dead, those alive today that are effected by the crimes probably don't feel that much better from this gesture. I don't know the facts around this case, and I could be wrong, but I think we should have stayed out of it.

CNBC: “We Should All Be Christians?” Ann Coulter: “Yes Air America Radio:

"COULTER: Yes. That is what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but
