Text of radio address by President Bush - MarketWatch

Text of radio address by President Bush - MarketWatch:

"Democrats and Republicans agree that our current immigration system is in need
of reform. We agree that we need a system where our laws are respected. We agree
that we need a system that meets the legitimate needs of workers and employers.
And we agree that we need a system that treats people with dignity and helps
newcomers assimilate into our society. "

It sounds like the parties are at a good meeting point on the issue of immigration. Though I have my doubts about how long this will continue. Some of the issues aren't as simple or complex as the presidents speech sets them out. For example, he talks about securing the border - but that in itself is a touchy point, how to secure it and how much priority should it be given.

I find hope in the parties working together, maybe a relationship can be created that will enable successful discussion on other issues - like Iraq.
