"LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 9, 2007) – Brad Pitt may be a world famous
actor, but his star power simply couldn’t keep him from jury duty. The “Oceans
Thirteen” star was called for jury duty in Los Angeles, earlier today his
publicist confirmed to Access Hollywood."
While it is nice to think about Brad Pitt having to do something that many other Americans have had to do, the reality is that he would never sit on the jury. I wouldn't be a fair trial, the other jurors might give his opinions too much weight, and that could throw off the balance of the jury. That is at least what any attorney would argue. There was a case a number of years ago, where Oprah was on a jury, and there was a mistrial that was asked for, and after there was a conviction, Oprah was used as grounds to appeal.
It really shouldn't and wouldn't happen.
