Senate passes wiretap bill - Politics - MSNBC.com:

"WASHINGTON - The Senate, in a high-stakes showdown over national security,
voted late Friday to temporarily give President Bush expanded authority to
eavesdrop on suspected foreign terrorists without court warrants."

I think this is a strong and healthy solution to the standoff that was setting up on the hill. This kind of legislation will take a lot of understand, a lot of compromise and a lot of work to get it right. We cannot fail the security of America, and allow terrorists to sneak through the nets that would catch and stop their plans. On the other hand, Americans and their rights need to be respected. I would go so far as to add, that people outside of the country, American or not should have their rights respected as well. We have the power and the need to protect out country, but that does not have to come at the cost of taking rights and security from others.
