"Dan Rather has reportedly filed a $70 million lawsuite against CBS,
Viacom, and three of his former bosses. According to TMZ, Rather claims that CBS
and the execs there 'tarnished his reputation and made him a scapegoat for a
discredited report on President Bush's National Guard service. The lawsuit also
claims that CBS violated his contract by taking him off the air after the
fallout from that story. "

Without knowing how much he had to do with the story, I can't say how much he is to blame. A story that big, and in a network like CBS, he couldn't have been the only one who had worked on the story. I am inclined to believe that most of the work was done by staffers and other producers. At the end of the day though, the network dumped it all on Rather. It ruined his career, in an attempt to save the networks image, and failed doing that.

This sounds like what I have been saying this whole time.

I don't think that he is a journalist. I think that he provides interesting debate and information for the country but I don't think that he is a journalist. I think every honest journalist attempts to get both side of the story, and it isn't enough to say that they have their own forum some where else.
