The problem with the internet is it doesn't have a central structure, and lacks a strong organizing body. Well, maybe it isn't a problem. Those factors are also what makes it such a powerful tool for communication around the world. The trick moving forward, will be to maintain the loose, freely connected nature of the internet and find some way to protect traffic.

Recent and proposed changes to Facebook's information sharing policies have Senators Franken (D-MN) and Schumer (D-NY) a little irritated. They've penned a letter, along with Michael Bennet (D-CO) and Mark Begich (D-AK), asking Facebook to reconsider their new opt-out procedure, and to take further steps to keep user's personal details, such as their interests and friend lists, private unless they chose to share them.

Facebook is a service people choose to use, while I understand privacy concerns I don't think the government should get involved. The market will sort itself out, if people are concerned enough about their privacy, they will choose to stop using Facebook. The internet works fast, MySpace used to be the king of the internet, and now it is just a wasteland - if Facebook doesn't take care of its customer base the same thing will happen to it. Government action isn't needed.

Twitter might be a great tool for communication, but sooner or later unless people get out of their houses, and off their computers - nothing is going to happen. The Twitter crowd might be less prone to do that than anyone else, because they might miss some tweets from their friends while they are out doing something about their beliefs in the real world.

I'm not unemployed, but for the time being I am dependent on coffee shop wifi connections, and similar sources to get on the internet. I would rather look at myself as being in the camp of the bloggers, than the unemployed anyways. I can see the problem that all those people, taking up spacing, and not buying anything causes, I just hope none of my favorite spots kick me off.
