Biden's motorcade was in yet another accident late Sunday, this time in Vancouver. Skating champ Peggy Fleming and bobsled star Vonetta Flowers sustained 'minor injuries.' From now on, let's just roll him around in a wad of bubble wrap. [NYT]

Joe Biden panders to score $100,000 in ten days.
This election is turning out to be an election that is all about Iraq, those who want to pull out and leave Iraq in chaos on one side, and those who believe Iraq can succeed. There are a number of issues that are not being discussed, and it is a shame that there isn't more choice being offered.
I was invited to appear on Meet the Press with Tim Russert on Sunday to present
my views on conditions in Iraq. …
This trip reinforced my long held belief that the conduct of this Iraq war by George Bush, Dick Cheney and their advisors has led to a catastrophic disaster affecting our nation both at home and around the world. Over 3500 brave women and men have died and over 26,000 have been wounded in support of this failed policy. We must get out of Iraq as quickly as possible.

I like Joe Biden, but his idea of cutting up Iraq sounds like the solution that parents would use for children who are having problems sharing a room. It doesn't work for children and it works even less for Iraq. Iraq has no history of being divided in the way that Biden speaks and more importantly it has no desire to be divided. Biden has said that we could force such a division on them, but that would be a flash back to the worst of the imperial moves taken by Britain and other countries after World War I in Eastern Europe and later in Africa. It would breed hatred for America that we were forcing our ideas on them, and it would be disastrous.

I am actually disturbed to hear Biden say this, and while I was leaning towards voting for him, this raises doubts for me. What we need more than anything is a path forward, there is nothing that can undo the damages that have been done to Iraq. Tearing the nation apart in a trial, or an attempt to impeach as some are want to do, will not fix the problems. We need a strong piratical leader who can restore honor to the presidency. That is not going to happen in an on going war between the parties.

possibly bringing criminal charges against members of this administration at a
later date."

Is this the end for Bill, I would hate to see him go down this way, though I guess it should have been predicted this is the way the cards would fall. It isn't that I don't want to see Bill go down, well ok a part of me thinks that he serves a valuable function of understanding the right. For me it is more about what this means in the bigger pictures for the progressive movement, the freedom of speech and the political discussion in this country.
if Bill goes down, he and others on the right - Michelle Malkin - will claim that he is being punished for daring to take on the left. His whole person is about defending against the liberal media and the bias of powerful groups on the left that want to control the discussion in this country. This feeds right into his ideas of himself, and his ideas of the world, and serves to support both of them. He will play himself off as a martyr who was speaking the truth and burned for it.
How would I like to see him go down, do hit the advertisers, hit the viewers. I would like to see him go down because the number of people who watch his show drops to the point that it is no longer making money. If his show is cut because of a low number of viewers, he will still scream - but the facts will not support him.

I think it is a mistake for Democratic candidates to not take part in the debate on Fox News. One, do they think that some of their party members do not watch Fox News. Do they think that they can reach the White House by reaching out to the other side. I don't know that Fox News is balanced, but that is besides the point, it could be more useful if it is slanted to the right. It may be that there are people on the right who only watch Fox News, and will not get your message any other way.
