Wisconsin teen 'freaked out,' didn't intend to kill - CNN.com

The teenager told police in a video taped interview that he never meant to kill anyone.

In the tape, the teen, Eric Hainstock tells police that he brought the gun to school because other kids there were picking on him and the school had done nothing to stop them. He tells detectives that when the principal grabbed him from behind he just freaked and put the gun under his arm and fired.

"It was just 'pop!' and then a couple seconds later 'pop!' and then a couple seconds later, 'pop!'" Hainstock said.

But Hainstock has a history of violence. One teacher took the stand to talk about a previous out burst where he had challenged a teacher to a fight and thrown a chair across the room. Hainstock had been in anger management classes, which he said were useless.

The debate is to decide if he will be charged as an adult under the law or as a minor. If he is charged as a minor he will be free when he turns 25. A sentence as an adult would land him in jail much longer.
