Detroit City Council Passes Impeachment Resolution | AfterDowningStreet.org

Detroit City Council Passes Impeachment Resolution AfterDowningStreet.org:

"Be it resolved further by the City of Detroit, that our senators and
representatives in the United States Congress be, and they are hereby, requested
to cause to be instituted in the Congress of the United States proper
proceedings for the investigation of the activities of the George W. Bush and
Richard B. Cheney, to the end that they may be impeached and removed from such
office."

I don't trust this movement to get cities to vote against political items they have no control over. I don't see how it does anything for the debate, how does it add anything that will help us understand the issue. At its root it is mostly a bandwagon argument, attempting to argue that the whole city is for or against an issue. I would be willing to bet that the City of Arcata, where I live, could easily pass such an motion - but I don't agree with it, so it can't be said to represent everyone in the city. I don't know that it can even be said to represent the majority of the citizens in the city, just the majority of those on the City Council. It is an abuse of power and a pointless abuse of power.

If we are going to embrace this and allow it, we need to accept the fact that it is only a matter of time before towns start voting against supporting abortion, and for conservative issues.
