"Democrats are sidestepping rules approved their first day in power in
January to clearly identify “earmarks” — lawmakers’ requests for specific
projects and contracts for their states — in documents that accompany spending
bills.Rather than including specific pet projects, grants and contracts in
legislation as it is being written, Democrats are following an order by the
House Appropriations Committee chairman to keep the bills free of such earmarks
until it is too late for critics to effectively challenge them."
I don't want this to sound like I am bashing the Democrats, though I am, I am sure this is a practice that takes place in both parties. Right now the party in power is the Democrats though, and as the party in power they are the ones who should answer for these actions. If this were the Republican party taking these steps to undermine democracy I am sure the democrats would make a stink about it. Washington is a lot like church it seems, full of people who are hypocrites, talk about things they never will do and obsessed with the sin of others.
