"SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Wireless phone provider MetroPCS Communications Inc.
publicly offered Tuesday to buy a regional rival for more than $5 billion in
stock, a long-anticipated move that would create a nationwide wireless carrier
dedicated to the discount market. Dallas-based MetroPCS offered to give
investors in San Diego-based Leap Wireless International Inc. 2.75 shares for
every Leap share they own. MetroPCS would also assume $2 billion in debtSAN

This is actually a good company. It provides plans for low income people that allow callers unlimited local and long distance calling for a flat rate - no contracts. At least that is how they have operated. I used it before I moved out of their coverage area in Stockton. It isn't the best quality, but it works good enough.
