"Yesterday, Senator Hillary Clinton unveiled her health care plan. Senator
Clinton said “My plan covers all Americans and improves healthcare by lowering
costs and improving quality. If you’re one of the tens of millions of Americans
without coverage or if you don’t like the coverage you have, you will have a
choice of plans to pick from and you’ll get tax credits to help pay for it. If
you like the plan you have, you can keep it. It’s a plan that works for
America’s families and America’s businesses, while preserving consumer choices.” "
When I think about health care it seems like it is too big to be managed in a way that covers everyone, and encourages innovation. When you put a limit on costs and profits you limit the talent pool that is drawn to the industry, it will either go to other countries or industries with higher incomes. If you don't limit the price, you can only make it affordable by covering expense no matter how much they are. That would reduce the need for savings and cause prices to inflate even higher. This might be a strong plan, I don't know enough about it yet, but I have my doubts.
