"Republican leadership forced beleagured Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) to resign
from his committee and subcommittee posts today, and calls for his resignation
from the Senate grew louder within his own party. Sens. John McCain and Norm
Coleman and Rep. Peter Hoekstra all publicly called for Craig to step down."
This is the right thing to do. It sets the tone for the future discussion on the topic. It also sets the standard for what is the expected behavior in this situation. This isn't about morality, this is about the character of a person who would violate a relationship with his wife, engage in illegal behavior in a public restroom. I have strong doubts that a leader with a character like that is one that we should trust.
