lgf: Soviet Flag Flies in DC

lgf: Soviet Flag Flies in DC:

"The Soviet flag flew again, in Washington DC, at the ANSWER Coalition
demonstration last weekend."

I was watching a gathering in Jenna, and saw a similar situation that made me see a mistake that the left makes too often. They take an issue like the Jenna six, or the war in Iraq. They take a stand on these issues that many Americans have doubts about, many of our leaders have doubts about. The system hasn't given them the results that these protesters have wanted. In many cases the process is ongoing. The war in Iraq for example, there are many people in the government that are trying to end this war. In Jenna there are people that are gathering to confront what is seen as an injustice, the news is covering the story and there is a strong discussion about it.

The mistake that the left makes, is that they take these emotional issues, use them as an attack on America as a country. When I see someone flying a flag upside down, I don't think that they are making a comment about the case of the Jenna six or the war in Iraq. The statement that they are making is that this country is a bad place, they are insulting their country. There are many people who get upset when they see things like this. These are people who might be sympathetic to the causes, but turn away in disgust at this open disregard of respect for flag and country. Attacking America as a country, as a system, as an ideology distracts from the message of the real problems that need to be resolved. It also alienates people from your cause.
