Atlas Shrugs: Overselling Defeat

Atlas Shrugs: Overselling Defeat:

"If victory in Iraq was oversold at the outset, there are now signs that defeat is likewise being oversold today.
One of the earliest signs of this was that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has said that he could not wait for General David Petraeus' September report on conditions in Iraq but tried to get an immediate Congressional mandate to pull the troops out.
Having waited for years, why could he not wait until September for the report by the general who is actually on the ground in Iraq every day? "

Just as much as I think it was a mistake to invade Iraq without taking the time to understand our actions fully, it is likewise a mistake to pull out too soon. If we are the brink of having success than it is worth waiting and sticking it out for a couple more months. We won't know that until the report comes back from Iraq, with that information in hand the choice can be made with a deeper understanding of what is going on in Iraq on the ground.
