Military Solution For Iran?

Captain's Quarters: Military Solution For Iran?

"The balance in the internal White House debate over Iran has shifted back
in favour of military action before President George Bush leaves office in 18
months, the Guardian has learned.
The shift follows an internal review involving the White House, the Pentagon and the state department over the last month. Although the Bush administration is in deep trouble over Iraq, it remains focused on Iran. A well-placed source in Washington said: 'Bush is not going to leave office with Iran still in limbo.'"

I don't know how anyone could think that a military solution to Iran is a good idea. A war against Iran will set the final spark that will explode the entire region. Israel will be dragged in because Iran will launch attacks on it, Saudi Arabia will either become involved as an ally of America or more generally as an ally of its fellow Sunnis. Turkey could use this as a window to enter Kurdish areas, the instability of Pakistan would only increase, as would the strength of the terrorists in Afghanistan. It would create the largest battle field, possibly in the history of global conflict. All this from an administration that for better or worse does not know how to plan a war.

Of course much of the same was said about the Iraq war, and while much of it turned out to be true, much of it did not.
