LOS ANGELES — Self-described pedophile Jack McClellan was told Friday to
continue staying away from children by a judge who reissued a restraining order
against him.
This man is sick, and I don't mean just in the mental way. The interesting thing about this case though, is that he has never broken the law with a child. He has posted pictures on his website and talked about where to find children, but there are no reports that he has harmed one. While I understand where the judge is coming from, and the concerns of the community, he is basically being punished based on the fear of what he might do - not on what he has done. A parent would no doubt argue, would it be right to wait for him to harm a child and then wonder why it wasn't prevented. I don't know what is right in this case.
