Is the right going to be able to look over look this when going to the polls. I don't know how extreme Abraham's ideas are or how widely known they are. You can count on what ever there is out there will be brought forward by the republican opponents.
This sounds pretty bad.
"Darn. He sounded so good for awhile. Then Fred Thompson made a fatal
mistake for anyone concerned with the infiltration of this country by Islamists.
He hired Spencer Abraham as his campaign manager:
Although Abraham, of Lebanese descent, is a Christian, he is a career water carrier for Islamists of the most extremist stripe and made that the cornerstone of his failed, one-term
Senate career and equally lousy tenure as Energy Secretary."

Spence was one of only two Senators in the entire U.S. Senate who refused to
sign a letter calling on President Clinton to condemn Palestinian terrorism and
Yasser Arafat. This was at the height of a series of homicide bombings in Israel
in 1999 and 2000.As Energy Secretary, he gave top secret tours of nuclear
facilities, as well as detailed information on how we secure them to Muslim
nations who are our enemies. And he gave out undue post-9/11 awards to Al-Qaeda
money-launderers . . . at the White House. The money launderers were raided by
U.S. Customs Service agents. After he left the Bush cabinet, Spence became a
lobbyist for Mid-Eastern Muslim countries that practice the Arab boycott of
Israel and don’t really like us too much either. He took their money and until
the Thompson race, did their bidding.
This sounds pretty bad.

This is simple race bating and it is wrong. It is wrong that the dialogue of our nation should be lowered to this level of discussion. It makes me sick to see people on the left abuse the issue of race for their own profit. It weakens your ideas in the minds of those who know how to reason, it weakens the movement towards equality in America, and it has a negative effect on our democracy. I can't make myself more clear on how wrong this is, and how negative I think it is for America.

Kelly Osbourne is one of those people that bloggers seem to love to hate, which means that anytime she starts a new project, many of them begin to root for her to fail. Those of you who read my site often know that I am not one of those bloggers. I think that stars should be encouraged when they take on challenges, it is a brave step for anyone to attempt something like this, even if you have done it a hundred times before. I think that it takes even more courage and motivation for stars like Kelly and Paris to get involved in projects like this because of who they are. One they don't need the money, it is the case for both of them that they could sit at home and have enough money to live. Second, if you have ever been on stage and you felt like the whole world was watching you, well it wasn't. For these stars though, the world is watching and in a sense waiting for them to fail.
I wish Kelly luck.

I have real fears that this battle between Bill O'Reilly and DailyKos could cause some real damage to the environment of political thought and discussion in this country. I don't think that we want to live in a country where companies only support the ideas that they agree with, and people only support the companies that support the ideas that they agree with. The first thing that would happen is that a lot of companies will drop out of the market all together, those are the companies that have moderate voices and don't want to support the extreme rhetoric from either side. When they leave the market, it will mean that there will be less of a need for programmers to apply to moderate voices. Those ad spaces and dollars will have to be replaced by someone, and if that means that the edges of the spectrum are giving more money to hear what they want to hear, programmers will be under more pressure to tell them what they want to hear.
One of the strengths of America is our market system, where it isn't the ideas of the company that made your products that are important, but the quality and the price of those products. The market should not see colour or religion, and it should not see political leanings either. While I do not have blind faith in the market, I think it is true that when these basic ideas are changed, it weakens the system, which could very well weaken our country.
"Our advertising campaigns have one simple objective to communicate with
audiences in the most effective way possible. The Company is receptive to many
forms and styles of media as we seek a balanced representation of programming to
reach our customer base. Unfortunately campaigns like this one cause us to take
time away from our sustainability goals and address a variance of political
views. "

While I think that this is an act that should not have been done, and I cannot defend, is it a hate crime. I see that there could be trouble in going down this road of allowing hate crimes to apply to objects that represent a culture. Today it is the Koran, does that mean it is a hate crime to damage a Bible, how about any number of sacred Hindu or Buddhist texts, and those are just the main religions. While I know this is a stretch, what if someone wanted to start a religion based on the Harry Potter books, would damage to one of them be a hate crime. Would defacing a cross be a hate crime, or defacing a star of David? Where does it end?
There is another symbol in this country that has come under attack, the attack of this symbol has not been made a hate crime though by the courts. In fact the courts have said that the attack of this symbol is an expression of free speech and is a protected right. What is this symbol, the American Flag. While I am not saying it should be a hate crime to attack the flag, you can't have it both ways. If you want to make attacking the Bible or the Koran a hate crime that attacking an American flag, or any flag for that matter should also be a hate crime. There are men who have given their lives to fight for the American flag, or the French flag, and for them and the members of their families I am sure that they feel like it is a dishonor for the flag to be attacked.

Everyone Talks About The 10th Amendment ...
Captain's Quarters: Everyone Talks About The 10th Amendment ...
While this is a movement that is gets its strength from the right, there are some solid reasons that those on the left should support it. In issues of Gay Marriage where there are a number of states that seem to be on the border of making it legal, it would take the road block of Washington power away from that happening. I think that federalism fell out of favor among environmentalists who wanted to get laws passed that would cover the whole nation. For environmental laws, working on a federal level makes sense. If you limit the amount of pollution in one state, the companies will move across state lines to a state that isn't as restrictive. Further there are many forms of pollution that effect a wide area, pollution from factories in the rest belt, can drift over to the New England states and come down as acid rain.
Even for environmentalists, it is possible to work with in a federal system. That means that efforts have to be made on a state by state basis, and maybe solutions found on a state by state basis, it takes more time and money, but it may be worth it. There is the danger that you spend so much of they spend so much of their time in Washington, working to change laws there that effect the nation, they don't talk to the real people in this country. That harbors the dangers, that the people don't really understand what the ideas you are fighting for are about, and it makes it easier for those who would oppose you to misinform voters. The second problem, maybe worse than the first is that they become another special interest group. While I think most of the public understand the difference between an environmental lobbyist and a lobbyist for tobacco or oil, it is the way they do business that becomes a weakness. When the business of environmental lobbyists in Washington becomes the same practices used by other lobbyists, they risk the danger of being called a special interest group and marginalised.
Being forced to work on a state by state business would move towards engaging more Americans in the discussions of our times. Discussions that they need to be a part of, the actions of the average American citizen will do more to save the planet than anyone in Washington can. People are honest and good, and American voters will make the right choice once they understand their choices. Actually having a grass roots level of understanding also makes it easier to defend those ideas when they are attacked.
"A good first step would be to codify the Executive Order on Federalism first
signed by President Ronald Reagan. That Executive Order, first revoked by
President Clinton, then modified to the point of uselessness, required agencies
to respect the principle of the Tenth Amendment when formulating policies and
implementing the laws passed by Congress. It preserved the division of
responsibilities between the states and the federal government envisioned by the
Framers of the Constitution. It was a fine idea that should never have been
revoked. The next president should put it right back in effect, and see to it
that the rightful authority of state and local governments is respected. "

Daily Kos: Lowe's pulls advertising from O'Reilly show
Daily Kos: Lowe's pulls advertising from O'Reilly show:
The conflict between Bill O'Reilly and the DailyKos appears to be turning into a major media war between the two powers. The battle got heated when Bill O'Reilly was able to get a sponsor for the YearlyKos convention to back down in its support of the meeting. The sponsor, JetBlue, was attacked by O'Reilly on his TV show, for supporting what he claims to be a site that traffics in hate speech. The rhetoric has been going back and forth between the site and O'Reilly for the last couple days, with each side picking out derogatory comments that have been made on the others site and broadcasting them. This part of the struggle spread with an attack on Michelle Malkin site, which prompted her to reply that she did not cherry pick comments, a tactic that she claimed that O'Reilly was using. With the pull out of a sponsor from The Factor, this could either be the final stroke in this tit for tat battle or just the opening round of a deeper conflict. The interesting aspect of this, is that on the face of it is a battle between left and right, but it is also some degree at least a battle between TV and the intenet.
I predict that O'Reilly is going to attempt to call out the hounds on Lowe's now. If the right gets behind O'Reilly you might see them outside the store with signs talking about the store not supporting free speech.
"Dear Lowe's Customer,
Thank you for your comments regarding the program, The O'Reilly Factor.
Lowe's has strict guidelines that govern the placement of our advertising. Our company advertises primarily in national, network prime-time television programs and on a variety of cable outlets. Lowe's constantly reviews advertising buys to make certain they are consistent with its policy guidelines. The O'Reilly Factor does not meet Lowe's advertising
guidelines, and the company's advertising will no longer appear during the program.
We are dedicated to providing the best service, products, and shopping environment in the home improvement industry. All three of these are very important to our business, and our customers will always be our number one priority.
We appreciate your contacting us, and hope this information
addresses your concerns.
Thank you,

This is foremost I think a step forward in the process of the way that we understand government and the way that government relates to the people. Am I calling it a revolution, no. It would be better if the call had included some liberal bloggers as well, but I can understand the reason that the administration might not want to include them in on the call. The White House wasn't looking to answer tough questions, or more accurately rude questions, which many of them may have been from the left. I fear we are at a point in the net culture that bloggers on the left are incapable of having a civil discussion with leaders on the right, and bloggers on the right are incapable of doing the same with leaders on the left.

legal and political arguments on which the administration will rely to prevail

"'The Insider' confirms that LINDSAY LOHAN is facing a potential lawsuit from DANTE NIGRO, JAKON SUTTER and RONNIE BLAKE -- the three men who say they were passengers riding with her on the morning of her arrest. The trouble for Lohan only gets worse by the day. The story makes it sound like all three of these men have a reasonable foundation to sue Lindsay. If I were one of her lawyers I would take the men aside, settle with them and get them to sign a statement to keep their stories from being told to the press any further. The story as it has been told reflects poorly on Lindsay, and she has little chance of fighting this suit. At the same time the story could effect her legal problems related to the DUI and the cocaine charges.

Lohan Smacked Down By Court - No, The Other Lohan (X17 Online):
In a court battle that had little to do with Lindsay, her parents showed up to court today to discuss the on-going custody battle between the parents. This battle is over the younger children, Ali and her two brothers, who are still minors. Father Michael Lohan was chastised for not making the child support payments that he is required. While it is true that Dina probably has enough money coming from Lindsay and Ali, as well as her own sources, a father should still be responsible for his children.
The sad thing about this is that this whole battle seems to be about money, but at least in Lindsay's case and probably the rest of the children as well, money is not what they need the most right now.

bicker over issues relating to custody"

The kids came along soon after, and we got pictures of Britney and her dirty laundry in the yard pretending it was the children. Those were the good old days.
"Rumor Alert: The Britney Spears, Kevin Federline divorce is set to be
finalized today. However, proceedings could be complicated after Britney fled
The City of Angels with the couple’s young sons for Viva Las Vegas on Wednesday;
violating a court-ordered custody agreement."

Maria 2.0 vs. The ‘Bank Skank’ / Jossip:
I hope these ladies remember that the best way that they can tell who is the better anchor is naked Jello wrestling. I am sure that they might think it has to do with who can score more points in the mile high club with married CEO's, but they are wrong.
"“CNBC might not be big enough for both the Money Honey, Maria
Bartiromo, and the Street Sweetie, Erin Burnett,” writes Page Six.
At least, not according to the older (and arguably less attractive Bartiromo) who is said
to be less than thrilled about Burnett’s meteoric rise to financial world
fame."

I Blinked And Dakota Fanning Grew Up
It does look like she is getting old fast, before you know it she'll be speeding down the Pacific Coast Highway in someone else's truck, wearing someone else's pants with cocaine in them.
Lindsay Lohan, Victim - Gawker
Lindsay Lohan, Victim - Gawker:
I do think that she makes a good point, in that we should remember that this is real persons life. It is easy for us to watch it like it is a movie and make our judgements but it isn't our life and we are not living it.
"Katie Couric wants you to remember that Lindsay Lohan is suffering from a
serious illness: addiction. 'Her biochemical state is exacerbated by the
constant media attention.... This young woman's life is on the line, and that's
not entertainment.' It's compassionate yet direct insights like these that keep
those 5 to 6 million people tuning in to Katie each night."

Maddox Begs Brad Not To Leave? Dlisted:
First of all why would she blame Brad? It was her dumbass that was playing games with the media when the movie was released that caused the headlines to talk about that instead of her movie.
Second of all, if Brad wants to leave, I don't think he can stay very long for the kids. I don't think that Angelina will allow him to stay very long if he is only staying for the kids. They will be a part of his life always, he is their adopted father.
"According to Life & Style Magazine Maddox and Pax walked in on
Angelina and Brad in a heated argument ending with Maddox begging Brad not to
leave. Ruh roh.
A source claims that Angelina blamed Brad for 'A Mighty
Heart' bombing at the box office. This insider alleges that Brad raised his
voice at Angie 'which he never does.' At that point Mad and Pax came in and Brad
told them to leave."

celebrity nation: Reese and Vince to co-star
celebrity nation: Reese and Vince to co-star:
As long as they don't become a couple, I think that they will play well off each other.
"Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn are hooking up - at least on screen. The
pair are signed on to play a couple struggling to visit all four of their
divorced parents' homes over the holidays. Vaughn and Witherspoon will also
co-produce the flick."

Rod Stewart Gives Tommy Lee Permission to Date Daughter Allie Is Wired - The Entertainment Blog:
Her dad was impressed because some old guy who used to bang Pamela Anderson tried to land a helicopter and the lawn, and now he is letting him shag his daughter. What a father, this guy must have been hanging out with Joe Simpson, really. I think that they are a bad match, it isn't just the age, though that is a part of it.
"Not that she would’ve listened otherwise, but Rod Stewart has given his
blessing to Tommy Lee and Kimberly Stewart to date. This is apparently the
result of the 44-year-old Motley Crue drummer trying to court the 27-year-old
Kimberly by landing a helicopter on her lawn. Even though his attempt was
unsuccessful (those pesky aviation laws), Rod was reportedly impressed."

A Socialite's Life: Whoopi and Sherri to Bring Some Laughs to "The View"
I think that she will be great for the show and if the ratings get too low they can bring in dead people for her to talk to, like she did in that movie - Ghost.
"'She is exactly what the show needs,' said Hollywood publicist Howard Bragman.
'She is a beloved brand name; she is outspoken; she has done this before, she is
a person of color; she is as far left as Rosie; she lives in New York; and she
can kick Elisabeth Hasselbeck's ass.'"

Skull Scandal Expands: More Images Implicate German Soldiers in Afghanistan - International - SPIEGEL ONLINE - News:
Critics on the right of the stories that have been published in The New Republic, point to this as a potential for where the story of soldiers playing with skulls came from. It could be that this is the case, and that the author of the columns in The New Republic just adapted the tale to fit his unit. I think that there is a small window after an event, where the truth will come out and it will be believed. After the window has closed, the lies and the doubt gets so thick in the air it is almost impossible to see fact from fiction.
"More images showing German soldiers playing with skulls and bones in
Afghanistan have surfaced. The site had been a regular stopping point for
patrols. Those who didn't play along were considered wimps."
