MSM's Tale of 2 Protests: Immigration vs. Tea Party

Franken and Schumer To CEO: We Hate Facebook's Privacy Changes

Franken and Schumer To CEO: We Hate Facebook's Privacy Changes:

Recent and proposed changes to Facebook's information sharing policies have Senators Franken (D-MN) and Schumer (D-NY) a little irritated. They've penned a letter, along with Michael Bennet (D-CO) and Mark Begich (D-AK), asking Facebook to reconsider their new opt-out procedure, and to take further steps to keep user's personal details, such as their interests and friend lists, private unless they chose to share them.

Facebook is a service people choose to use, while I understand privacy concerns I don't think the government should get involved. The market will sort itself out, if people are concerned enough about their privacy, they will choose to stop using Facebook. The internet works fast, MySpace used to be the king of the internet, and now it is just a wasteland - if Facebook doesn't take care of its customer base the same thing will happen to it. Government action isn't needed.

Paul Krugman Thinks AZ Immigration Law Proves Tea Partiers Are Hypocrites

Paul Krugman Thinks AZ Immigration Law Proves Tea Partiers Are Hypocrites:

We have these massive protests in this country about alleged authoritarian tendencies that we are going to have some kind of — inside the Obama/Hitler stuff — the idea that the government is encroaching too much in our lives.

And now all of the sudden, we have by pretty much the same people, demanding that we set up a system that will turn us into one of those apocryphal foreign authoritarian regimes where the police are saying hand over your papers, right? A world where you constantly have to prove who you are. And yes, it will be racial profiling but who knows what else?

He has a point, either you are for giving more power to the state to control people's lives are you aren't.

Left to die on the streets of New York...

I don't know what to say about this, other than wow.

Why did passersby leave a Good Samaritan bleeding to death on a New York sidewalk last week, with one even pausing to snap a photo of the dying man who had been stabbed after thwarting a mugging?

Roman Polanski Seeks Pardon From President Obama

Roman Polanski Seeks Pardon From President Obama: "

Oscar-winning child predator Roman Polanski has enlisted the help of the world’s most powerful man in a last ditch effort to battle extradition on his 33-year-old stautory rape charge: He’s written a letter to President Barack Obama, according to French tabloid L’Express.

I think Obama is smart enough to stay away from something like this.

What is wrong with people...

Yeah... gross!

If there's any lesson to be learned from this story it's this: When you decide to take a bunch of clothes into a store's changing room with the intention of voiding your bladder all over them, do not leave your wallet behind.

Every group says it speaks for individuals...

But as of yet I have not found one I believe honestly does. I agree with this paragraph, but I have seen behavior that would make me believe the Tea Party is not true to it.

We are a grassroots movement made up of people who believe in individual freedom and individual responsibility.  Racism and hate are inherently collectivist ideas.  As individualists we judge people as individuals, based on the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

Bill Clinton has a point, but the wrong one...

I think Bill Clinton has a point about the effect of language of people's behavior, and it is important when tough issues are being discussed to avoid language that could incite and inflame people to violence. The unfortunate problem with the point he made is the implication it is only parties on the right that have been violent, and that we need to be concerned about. Truth is, there are people on all sides with the ability and the willingness to be violent. Truth is language on all sides goes too far.

"Fifteen years ago, the line was crossed in Oklahoma City. In the current climate, with so many threats against the president, members of Congress and other public servants, we owe it to the victims of Oklahoma City, and those who survived and responded so bravely, not to cross it again."

Wondering how much faith the left has in your ability to run your own life? Chris Matthews was brutally honest today when he criticized that "idealistic notion" of self-reliance that ignorant conservatives insist on pushing.
