Opinion: Why I voted for Ron Paul - POLITICO.com

Opinion: Why I voted for Ron Paul - POLITICO.com:

"But I also would never vote for a GOP candidate who was the godfather of Obamacare, or another who added $7 trillion to Medicare’s debt or yet another who bashed Paul Ryan one week and venture capital the next. Faced with this truckload of big government Republicans, I cast my vote for the only candidate who spent his entire public career standing athwart history yelling “stop” to an ever-expanding centralized state."

Google Says Android, Chrome OS Will Eventually Converge

There's no Chrome OS tablet in the works. Instead, the notebook OS will converge with Android.
This does seem like a natural evolution. I haven't gotten a Chrome book yet, but I want one.

For the White House, a Wary Wait as Syria Boils - NYTimes.com

For the White House, a Wary Wait as Syria Boils - NYTimes.com:

"Just as strife in the former Yugoslav republic confounded first President George Bush and then his successor, Bill Clinton, the bloody crackdown in Syria — underscored by last week’s massacre of children and other villagers — has put Mr. Obama in a deeply uncomfortable position. With American troops only recently withdrawn from Iraq and still in Afghanistan, the president is loath to engage in new military actions, especially one with few advocates, even among human rights groups. And yet with each passing incident, the scale of the crisis grows."
We don't need to invade the country, we just need to eliminate the forces that are threatening and killing civilians. Air power is an imperfect model, but in Libya it worked in conjunction with allied groups on the ground fighting for independence. If we can target and kill threats in Yemen, then why cannot we use the same technology in Syria?

NeverSeconds: I played a clarinet solo in a concert today after ...: I played a clarinet solo in a concert today after school to celebrate the end of my first year learning to play. I was so stiff with nerves ...

This is from a pretty neat blog written by a primary school student about school lunches, with photos. Great stuff - not the food.

Psychiatrist Who 'Proved' Gays Can Be Cured Says It Was All a Big Mistake

Psychiatrist Who 'Proved' Gays Can Be Cured Says It Was All a Big Mistake:

"I believe I owe the gay community an apology for my study making unproven claims of the efficacy of reparative therapy. I also apologize to any gay person who wasted time and energy undergoing some form of reparative therapy because they believed that I had proven that reparative therapy works with some "highly motivated" individuals."

I think that gay rights, like the abortion issue, is a discussion going on at national level that is actually two discussions. Each side is having their own debates, and doing little to win over the other side. Does Obama's change make a difference, does this make a difference? Only to people who accepted the idea to begin with. What changes people's minds is knowing someone who is gay, and understanding they are just people.

Syrian cities under fire, opposition says

Syrian cities under fire, opposition says: Syrians in the devastated city of Homs endured another day of heavy shelling Sunday, opposition activists said, a day after the U.N. Security Council voted to send up to 300 observers to monitor a shaky cease-fire.

The only "cease fire" the government of Syria cares about is the one that comes after its foes are dead or fled from the country. They will not stop killing until they feel safe, and by feeling safe I mean democratic ideas in Syria are extinguished.

Dallas to make feeding poor illegal

Texas Public Policy Foundation - Legislative Updates

Under these proposed changes most feeding of the poor in Dallas would be illegal. This isn't a liberal move or a conservative move by government. It is a sick and twisted attack on the poor and the people who reach out to help them.
