Rep. Hinchey: Bush Admin. 'Intentionally Let bin Laden Get Away' for Justification of Iraq War

Do you have a foundation for that?

This is some claim to make. The problem is I doubt this person has any foundation or information to support his claim. I would like to see this information if it exists, because if this is true then Pres. Bush should be charged for treason.

Down with Hoover

Ok, I understand some of Jason Robo's complaints, but I don't think this is the right path. When someone says something you disagree with, the proper response isn't to tell them to shut-up. That is what this whole thing amounts to.
In what may have been a misguided attempt to rid the community of Arcata of what some view as a pest, local activist Jason Robo has taken on The Arcata Eye.

Arianna Huffington: Will The Unemployment Disaster Be Obama's Katrina?

Posted from

Unemployement - why won't Obama act?

This is a good piece about the wreckage that is resulting from high unemployment and how Obama and his team are not acting. Rest assured this isn't a Glen Beck, or Sarah Palin attack from the right, with only a lose foundation in reality. This is coming from a left-wing icon, Arianna Huffington of The Huffington Post. Mr. Obama the time for action has come.

Unemployment damages the economy through the loss of consumer spending, but it also hurts those that have jobs. Companies have the ability to force workers into part-time shifts and to pay them lower wages.
The members of the Obama administration may not be attending a birthday party at John McCain's ranch in Sedona or shopping for expensive Ferragamo shoes in New York as a great American city is destroyed, but their decidedly lackadaisical response to what job losses are doing to multiple great American cities raises the question: will unemployment be Barack Obama's Katrina?

Is Google making a mistake?

Isn't this just adding fuel to the fire, by making more people aware of the photo - and thus driving traffic to the site that posted it. That increased traffic will mean the site will maintain a high ranking in Google's search results. I am sure Google could have thought of a better solution - like programing their search engine to produce a disclaimer on the page when the result comes up. That way only people who already had done the search would be made aware of it.
Google has purchased online ads in an effort to explain to users why an offensive image of Michelle Obama is appearing, and is ranked so highly, in its Google Image search results.

A small fight on the right

I have to say I agree with Allah Pundit in this matter. Though none of us were there to judge what happened. First of all, there is still an importance to operating under a rule of law - and the means not beating detainees. Second of all, he points out the involvement of Iraqi authorities made it much more of a political issue, and mandated action. What I don't understand, is why Allah is being attacked at all.

Where does she come up with this stuff

Ok, I have been trying to take a fair stand on Sarah Palin. Many of the attacks on her haven't been fair. However, when she comes out and says that Obama isn't honoring the troops, when he just took time to attend a memorial and speak to their service, something should be said. I am not a "fan" of Obama either, but that statement just isn't fair.

What do polls mean?

I didn't put a lot of meaning in polls when it was Bush, and I still don't put a lot of meaning into polls. People will throw this data around like it is some kind of concrete fact, but it isn't. Or it is a fact, but I think it speaks very little to reality.

Give Rasmussen a lot of credit thus far in the Obama Era.  They predicted his decline first, have documented his rallies, and now report on the nadir of his standing among registered voters.  In their daily tracking poll, Barack Obama dropped to a 45% approval rating, tying the lowest mark of his term thus far, and hit a new record on their “passion index”

The hate around Sarah

There has been too much hateful language used against Sarah Palin, attacking her and her family personally, not not taking on her ideas. It is time this should stop, it is dishonest and weak to attack someone for being a womyn - it is always weak and dishonest.
The Left has declared war on Palin because she threatens their existence.  Democrats need women dependent and scared so that women, like blacks, will vote for liberals.

A strong, self sufficient woman, Palin eschews their protection.   Drop her off in the Alaskan bush, and she'll survive just fine, thank you very much.  Palin doesn't need or want anything from liberals, not hate crimes legislation that coddles her, not abortion, which she abhors.

The hate around Sarah

This isn't the first article to discuss the hatred and racism that seemed to surround Sarah Palin during the campaign. I don't know if this reflects Palin's ideas or not, and to be honest it isn't clear how much she is aware of it - at least while it is happening. However, while this article like others before overstates the connection between Palin and this hate, it does make a point. If she was never aware of it, she is surrounded by enabler that shouldn't be trusted and must be extremely ego-centric. However, if she did know about it, she had a moral responsibility to speak against it. It should be remembered that John McCain spoke against the hate when he became aware of it.

What do the e-mails really say?

Not having seen the e-mails, my guess is what has been discovered is the natural balance of conversation between researchers. If that is the case, it doesn't represent a cover-up, but an honest search for truth.

What kind of trial will it be?

I think it comes down to this, the outcome of the trial is known to the whole world. Do you think there is a chance in hell that Obama would allow them to beat the charges. It could be said, a trial like this will show the world who we really are, and that our system is just. However those who hate us, won't trust the trial - civilian or otherwise. Those who do trust us, do so because of our record. We don't need to prove something to them.
The decision to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) and his fellow terrorists in federal court was a political decision pure and simple. It was an attempt to rebuke the Bush Administration to engage in tribunals, even though quite a few of the detainees will still get tribunals and not trials. It creates significant problems and legal headaches particularly with the prosecution and handling of detainees who do not get access to federal court.

I can see Russia from my house

Palin never said she could see Russia from her house, that was Tina Fey. Now if you can really see Russia from Alaska seems doubtful to me. I remember someone tested the theory, but I don't remember the results.
clipped from newsbusters.org

Tuesday’s World News with Charles Gibson showed clips of an interview between Barbara Walters and Sarah Palin which will air on Friday’s 20/20. At one point, Walters seemed to allude to the fact that there is a misconception that Palin once claimed that “I can see Russia from my house,” during the 2008 campaign, as evidence of her foreign policy experience. The famous line was, in fact, uttered by Tina Fey playing Palin on Saturday Night Live to parody what Palin had actually said in an interview with Gibson from September 2008. Walters:

Why Palin can run for president

I would add, that it is possible she could get the nomination because people so often assume that she can't. She can win, because people won't take her serious until it is too late.
1. Enthusiasm.
2. 2010.
3. The other candidates are flawed.
4. The other candidates might not run.
5. The media will be rooting for her.
6. She's tough to campaign against.
7. There are virtually no moderates left in the Republican base.
8. Attempts by the Republican Establishment to neuter her may backfire.
9. Parties tend to nominate more extreme candidates in elections against incumbents.
10. She gets new media; new media gets her.

They should have thought it through

With all due respect to the people who are fighting for what they believe, they really should have put more time into thinking about their protest. Their ideas are solid, their concerns are valid, but the concept always seemed weak to me. This is just another point of embarrassment. Of course, true believes won't be stopping.

Runner's World tells Jeff Bercovici that Brian Adams's contract contains a clause stipulating that his photos of Sarah Palin in gym shorts would be under embargo until August 2010. "That leaves the questions of whether anyone at Newsweek knew that Adams was not contractually free to sell the photo, and whether the promised embargo was a factor in Palin's decision to pose for Runner's World," writes Bercovici.

Do it right next time

What good is "transparency" if the information you are revealing isn't accurate. I don't care if it is a mistake or not, it needs to be fixed - and done right next time.

This should come as no surprise given that independent groups and others (myself included) have cataloged that the recovery.gov website includes billions of dollars going to congressional districts that don't exist and that basic defects in the database render it useless. The head of Recovery.gov, Earl Devaney, admits that they can't certify the jobs data.
