OJ "Did It" Manuscript Leaked Online - TMZ.com

OJ "Did It" Manuscript Leaked Online - TMZ.com:

"Then something went horribly wrong, and I know what happened, but I can't tell
you exactly how. I was still standing in Nicole's courtyard, of course, but for
a few moments I couldn't remember how I'd gotten there, when I'd arrived, or
even why I was there. Then it came back to me, very slowly: The recital-with
little Sydney up on stage, dancing her little heart out; me, chipping balls into
my neighbor's yard; Paula, angry, not answering her phone; Charlie, stopping by
the house to tell me some more ugly shit about Nicole's behavior. Then what? The
short, quick drive from Rockingham to the Bundy condo. And now?

Now I
was standing in Nicole's courtyard, in the dark, listening to the loud,
rhythmic, accelerated beating of my own heart. I put my left hand to my heart
and my shirt felt strangely wet. I looked down at myself. For several moments, I
couldn't get my mind around what I was seeing. The whole front of me was covered
in blood, but it didn't compute. Is this really blood? I wondered. And whose
blood is it? Is it mine? Am I hurt?"

The above is from the leaked transcript of the OJ Simpson book and I have very little to say about it. I think this is something that stinks so bad, it doesn't need to be pointed out.

Wal-Mart set to announce new financial services - MarketWatch

Wal-Mart set to announce new financial services - MarketWatch:

"Following up on a promise to bring financial services beyond its check-cashing,
express bill payments, money orders and money transfers to its customers, the
world's largest retailer is expected to roll out mortgages and home-equity loans
or lines of credit.
Wal-Mart also is likely to announce that it will
increase the number of stores in which it operates MoneyCenters , the
financial-services only counter, from the current 170.
The move comes on the
heels of the company's failed efforts to obtain a charter for an industrial loan
company, a version of a bank referred to as an ILC. Wal-Mart withdrew its
application with federal banking regulators in mid March after a backlash from
politicians and community banks fearful that the retailer would hurt the
small-banking industry. "

Sounds like they are going to be edging into the market of offering the services that they had planned on providing to their customers in the first place. What I read about their plans the first time around, was that they were planning on making banking services cheaper and easier for the public to use. If they hold true to this formula, it will benefit consumers, while I don't see it harming the big banks much. I think the market that Wal-Mart is going for is the market that doesn't use the big banks services anyways.

The difference between Fatah and Hamas

Egypt and Jordan quietly back Abbas, too | csmonitor.com

Egypt and Jordan quietly back Abbas, too csmonitor.com:

"Amman, Jordan, and Rafah, Egypt - – The creation of separate Palestinian
micro-states last week left two of America's closest Arab allies – Jordan and
Egypt, which share borders with the West Bank and Gaza respectively – groping
for a new policy toward a conflict that has spilled over their borders and
contributes to their own instability.
These two secular and authoritarian
states have far more in common with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah,
which now controls the West Bank, than with the Islamist Hamas that won last
week's war for control of Gaza. When Hamas won parliamentary elections in 2006
that were deemed free and fair, it set alarm bells ringing in Cairo and Amman;
they worried their local Islamists would be bolstered by Hamas's success. "

The whole region needs peace, the whole region needs stability and the whole region needs to learn to accept that Israel is not going to be wiped off the map. The whole region will benefit from growth and open trade that is being held back by the on going conflicts.

ABC News: Presidential Prelude? NYC Mayor Bloomberg Leaves GOP

ABC News: Presidential Prelude? NYC Mayor Bloomberg Leaves GOP:

"'Although my plans for the future haven't changed, I believe this brings
my affiliation into alignment with how I have led and will continue to lead our
city,' he said in a statement."

Time magazine has Bloomberg and Arnold Schwarzenegger on the cover with a headline that says, who needs Washington. What these two events put together tell me is that Washington is becoming a place where you go, and you get nothing done. I think with the road block that has become national politics, more of more of the real issues are going to be dealt with by state and other local governments. I think that Bloomberg is pulling out of the party because he doesn't need the party, he doesn't need to be a part of the national system of the two parties with the focus on Washington. Real work, honest government and accomplishment take compromise, something that is impossible in Washington anymore.

Rudy Quit Iraq Study Group: Couldn't Be Bothered With "War On Terror" - TalkLeft: The Politics Of Crime

Rudy Quit Iraq Study Group: Couldn't Be Bothered With "War On Terror" - TalkLeft: The Politics Of Crime:

"Rudolph Giuliani's membership on an elite Iraq study panel came to an
abrupt end last spring after he failed to show up for a single official meeting
of the group, causing the panel's top Republican to give him a stark choice:
either attend the meetings or quit, several sources said"

I think this speaks mostly for itself, but it is honestly hard to take someone seriously when they talk about the war on terror and Iraq being a part of it, then they don't have time to meet with the Iraq study panel.
