"A 2-year-old girl was pronounced dead on Monday after being beaten with a video
game controller by her mother's boyfriend. The girl's mother, Neida Baez,
overheard the beating from another room but did nothing until her boyfriend told
her that the child was unconscious. The boyfriend, Harve Johnson, has been
charged with homicide, assault, and reckless endangerment (the mother has been
charged with endangering the welfare of a child)."
