"We found a mutual understanding with the Turkish side about the need to
co-operate to confront the activities of all terrorist organisations in Iraq,
including the PKK... There was agreement to unite our joint efforts to find a
solution that will end, eliminate, and cancel [the PKK's] presence on Iraqi
territory through shared action by both parties. "
While the government of Iraq appears to be weak at home, it is making some achievements with its neighbors. Both this agreement and the friendship with Iran are going to help Iraq with its transition and help the region to become more stable. If the surge continues to go well, I think that the troops should be able to pull out before there is a political solution on the ground in Iraq. They will find their own way, and our exit may make it easier for that to happen.
